The questions are designed to establish your particular dialect (of American English), and in the end it "guesses" where you live (or where you're dialect came from, at least).

As for those who don't live in the States, it might be interesting to give it a try to see which regions of the USA have the most similarities to your own dialect.

I found this survey to be both interesting and extremely accurate. It nailed me to within 50 miles of where I currently reside, which is in San Francisco, CA

nah I'm joking, I've been in Cali for 10 or so years and I would say that this is pretty accurate.

 

I'm from Las Vegas, born in Long Island...

Its pretty close. Im from north texas though and it acts like im from west. If you spoke to people from both areas the dialect would be pretty different.

 

I'm Scottish/Kiwi and this is what I got lol

 

It's pretty good but it predicted that I am from fort lauderdale. I live in Georgia and Mississippi. Therefore I think it may be using an IP address look up tool along with the answer to the questions to best predict your location.

I may be way wrong though, because I know this survey has been proven by numerous other surveys and the paper this is coming from is highly respected. But it wouldn't surprise me if they used the tool to get even more precise.

 

I'm from california and took this test from WA. It pinned me in CA.

This is also the second time I've come across this test, the first time while I was still in Germany. Again, it pinned me in CA.

I'm from the North West in the UK (Near Manchester and Liverpool), and i got New York/Jersey/Yonkers, I'd upload the pic but i'm having trouble.

 

Born in las vegas and stayed there until 3. Flip flopped from sacremento and florida until 7. I then stayed in florida(miami for few years but now mostly central florida)

I hope some of the answers in that survey are made up because if you pronounce crayon like some of what they suggested that's a problem. Also Seattle was my location even though I'm from Canada.

Damn, I really do have a New York accent haha. I'm from Long Island, apparently Long Islanders have a different accent than other New Yorkers from what everyone tells me haha.
EDIT: What the fuck, looking at everyone's why is mine the most concentrated to one area...I swear I don't have a thick accent lol
