It should be up to the parents to decide whether they can support the child properly or not.
Although I do feel, adoption would be a better option, birth can also threaten the life of a mother, which is the reason I feel, should be legal.

 

Yes I agree with you that birth could also harm the Mothers life but abortion could also harm the Mothers life physically and mentally. For example the Mother might not be able to give birth again!

 

However, fetuses develop into a potential human life. That means you are destroying a 'potential' human life. The life you end will definitely end up living. He could even be the next famous musician, or even another Leonardo da Vinci (highly impossible with the influence of today's retarded generation)

All in all, if your childs' life is going to be horrible because you can't support it, abort it.

No one really gives a shit. The only person who is going to regret it inthe end is yourself. Everyone can be pro-life until I'm put in the same situation as a 16 year old guy who got his girlfriend pregnant.

 

I personally believe the person should be able to decide, I wouldnt want my own kid aborted, but if sum chick next door says "i dont want this" then thats her choice and I believe she should have the right to make that choice.

 

That child according to statistics, would have a better chance at becoming the next Aurora mass killer.

I haven't been following with the discussion, but I would like to give my opinion. I believe what should be done is what proves to be best for the child. If some homeless teenage girl got knocked up by a drug addict father, then I would say it's best for the baby to be aborted, as the mother will not be able to take care of it properly (given its presumed life conditions).

If the baby is born into a good family by "accident", I don't think abortion should be used to 'excuse' the parents' mistake.

Whether it's killing or not depends on the age of the fetus. I don't believe that aborting a zygote that's a few days old really counts as killing - but aborting a 6 month old fetus does in my opinion. So, for the people who wait long to test if their babies have any medical illnesses, then abort if they do, I don't think their actions are justified (even if it's "better" for the baby so he/she doesn't suffer in the future - we can't just kill off all children with medical illnesses because it's "better" for them, that's immoral).

I believe there are processes (amniocentesis) which can extract cells from the mother's uterus early in development and karyotype them quickly to determine if the baby will develop any disorders. At this point, I don't really consider the baby "alive", so I don't see why it would be wrong to abort at such an early stage - but ONLY at this early stage. Not at month 6, for example.
