Got scammed by itztheremix

itztheremix offered a cd key for the Age of Empires complete edition here on Sythe (http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1230081)).

We exchanged some PMs and shared our contact data. Added each other on Steam and finished the trade there.

He went first sending me the cd key via Steam chat. Then I sent him a Counter Strike Source steam gift via Steam trade.

Everything seemed to be alright but as soon as I was trying to install Age of Empires 3 with the provided key I was told it is invalid by the setup process.

We tried different ways to get the key working. As I also state in the following PMs I am not happy that he tried to sell me a key already linked to his GFWL account. But as I was only interested in play AOE3 online I tried everything possible to get this key working. No way did succeed so I was forced to ask for a refund.

I am very unhappy about how this deal, especially as I have the impression itztheremix is generally a good guy. But for whatever reason he denies taking responsibility in this particular case.
This whole incident is only about 9 lousy dollars and tbh I am to old for this kind controversy stealing my time. Anyway I can't let this slip so I decided to create this scam report so the forum authorities are able to take appropriate action.

Of course I would be happy to receive the promised refund by itztheremix so we can settle this. Maybe this thread encourages him.

I am not a native speaker so if something is vague please point it out.
Also I have chat logs of our complete conversation on Steam chat but I don't know if they are relevant so I didn't post them.

Yesterday I finished downloading the AOE3 complete edition. The problem persists. The key you sent me gets refused by the setup process of AOE3 as well as it's expansions.
The AOE3 complete edition released in retail stores includes 5 cds and 3 serials. An individual serial for AOE3 and its 2 expansions.

So the key which is displayed in your GFWL profile is unusable with any retail version of AOE3.

Maybe you can enter it to install the GFWL version of AOE3 and/or its expansions but as I can't download it from GFWL the key is useless to me.

As I said before I am not fine with the fact that you traded me a key thats linked to your GFWL profile. But if I am able to use this key to create a new ESO online profile and play AOE3 online I am satisfied.

Therefore as already announced I have to ask you for a refund.
You received a copy of CSS source I paid 9$ for on SourceOPS to trade it with you.
Thus I would like to ask you to send me 9$ via paypal or return a CSS gift via Steam.

May I introduce you to how ESO accounts work:
When installing AOE3 you are asked to enter a cd key. If this key is valid you are allowed to install and run the game.
This key is stored encrypted in your windows registry (So you can't change it after installing the game).
If you want to play online you need an ESO account (a online gaming platform provided by Ensemble Studios the creators of AOE3).
This account is created by following the necessary steps in the AOE3 main menu.
Creating a ESO account from the AOE3 main menu (there is no other way to create an ESO account) doesn't require you to manually input your cd key. The AOE3 cd key gets simply pulled from your windows registry.

I hope you get the point: When trying to install AOE3 using the CDs included in the retail AOE3 complete edition the setup denies the cd key you have sent me.
The setup process returns the error that the key is invalid.
So as I can't enter the key manually later on to register an ESO account its useless to me.

I urge you to take action immediately and act appropriately.
To make this clear: You sold me a cd key which is linked to your gfwl account. A key you acquired for 0,10$ in the past. A key which turned out to be not valid for any retail AOE3 version.
You received a steam gift copy of CSS (value 9$).

This is the last chance I am granting you to solve this situation.
If you still refuse to take responsibility for your actions I have to contact the forum authorities and publish a scam report and ask for a forum ban (I have screens and chat logs of all our conversations). I am also going to add a scam report to the SteamRep and SourceOPs scammer database.

I know you are a honest person and you simply didn't know what you have been selling exactly.
So its not strictly a scam but you simply sold a key that turned out to be unusuable and didnt care to check if its working in advance.
You have to understand my situation. I gave you a perfectly working CSS gift and you gave me an unusable cd key.

I expect to have 9$ on my Paypal account: by the 25th of September.

Keep in mind that there might be charges when transfering money via Paypal. So check before you send the payment because I don't want to be forced to run after that missing money afterwards.

No, I wont install AOE3 again just to show you a pic of the error message. If you want to confirm it install AOE3 with a random key and try to login to your ESO account. You will receive error 100 as I said.

Shouldn't be hard to get a hold of ~9$ and transfer them to your Paypal account.
If you exceed this deadline I will immediately report this incident and get your sythe and steam account flagged.

This whole trade wasted far too much of my time already.

As I want to get this settled peacefully I offered you the chance to refund me until the end of this week.

I posted a temporary scam report in your vouche thread so people take care when trading with you.

Checking your latest activities you been quite busy so please don't try to tell me you don't have 9$ spare to refund me.

If you still insist on this screenshot showing the error 100 [Bad cd key] send me the ESO username and pw again. But I guess you alread understood that the key you wanted to sell me doesn't work the way you originally thought.

Be aware that I don't accept anything else than a working AOE3 complete edition cd key or 9$ via Paypal .

As I am only interested in receiving a refund and don't want to do you any harm I want to give you a chance to settle this.

If you can't send me 9$ via Paypal, a CSS steam gift or a Age of Empires 3 complete edition cd key you can also offer me something else.
If you have working reedemable cd keys or unverified legit Steam/Orion accounts make an offer.
