The Danger of Selling Pixels on Paypal

The Dangers Of Selling things, receiving money on Paypal

Greetings fellow sythe members. I'm posting this thread today to present to you the dangers of selling accounts/gold, or any type of pixel, using Paypal.

Firstly, selling pixels over the internet is a very risky choice. All from the danger of scammers.
You may be selling an account, the guy is willing to go first, and pay an outrageous amount. This makes you very excited, after you've received the payment, you'll give him all the information to make the account securely his. A few hours/days go by, and you see you may be have a negative balance (from spending the money), or less money than what you already had in your Paypal account.

    Reason being:
With selling an account over the internet, you are unable to provide proof of purchase, therefor the scammer can simply file a dispute to Paypal, putting the money "on hold" for a matter of a week. That gives you a week to appeal it. How you appeal it is by giving paypal a tracking/shipping number. In which case you don't have for you bought an account without using mail. In which case, you're fucked.

So, the scammer just waits a week or so to revive the money. And you then loose the account/gold/whateveryouwereselling. Happy days!

I DO know how to appeal this. However, it will greatly benefit scammers. So if you desperately need to know, you first must be trusted on sythe, and I'll tell you in MSN chat. Otherwise that's a mystery for you.

Isn't really a good guide, considering it's short and lacks of color and pictures.
    5/10.

Just because it's short doesn't mean it's a bad guide. In most cases, you're wiser than you were when you read it. It's just to inform you the dangers. The people on: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=3431306&posted=1#post3431306 didn't think to bad of it.

Revise the rules, don't double post your thread all over this site, it's a waste of space.

I don't like people like you. They have nothing good to say. They think they're improving things, but only creating drama. They see only the errors, and not the point.

It does point out the dangers of selling virtual items via paypal but the guide itself could easily be improved.

You should go over the methods (if any) to combat this kind of thing.

I'm going to be selling a few "pixels" in a few days for 195$, and I want to make sure nothing like this happens.

One way is to make them file a claim and cancel it straight away. Make sure they show you proof and try to transfer it to another account asap.

What do you mean, tell them to file a claim, and cancel? They told me something about "claim and cancel," but I have no idea what that means.

    Edit: Requested over msn.

It actually doesn't matter if you transfer it to another account. You'll just go negative in your account. And if your paypal is connected to your banking account. Out goes your money from you bank account. And if it's a mass amount, and you're negative for a while. There's a good chance you'll go to collection. Which is kind of like court.
