    Why you should workout.

I used to workout everyday since university days until covid hit (8 years or so). Gyms were closed in Korea for the entire duration and it made me into a sack of shit. Not just physically but my mentality was worse than a sack of potato. After gyms re-opened, I tried going back to the gym but because of my weak mentality, I ended up not going until 2024.

During the time I wasn't at the gym:
    • I accumulated a debt of about $30k USD (Credit card debt) due to binge shopping and escorts.
    • Couldn't maintain a relationship with my girlfriend
    • Gained 12-15% Body fat
    • Mentally drained/depressed (not clinically but feeling like it)
    • Cruise control at work
    • Sex sucked

In March of this year, I was at a new low, I found myself trying to borrow money from really shady people and looking up on how to smuggle ozempic into Korea (it's not illegal to use but you can't procure ozempic easily in Korea). That's when I had realized I wasted nearly 3-4 years of my life doing absolutely nothing. I decided to change my life and made sure I was on track again. I started going to the gym on a routine I know I can follow. (Shout to to StrongLift 5x5). In working out, I started to gain more discipline and structure to my life.

During the time I was at the gym:
    • Had a stronger mentality and confidence
    • Paid off 30k in debt (which really wasn't all that hard because I had nearly no expenses aside from alcohol and bitches - my monthly take home salary is about $7.5k + got a bonus in June )
    • Gained back a lot of my strength/lost weight
    • More energetic
    • Sex drive is off the roof
I still indulge in alcohol and clubbing but only once a week. It used to be 5-6 times a week. Anyways, I just wanted to share this story and encourage other users to workout (be it the gym or at home) .

Great thread, I am glad you managed to turn your life around in such a drastic but positive way!

I fully agree that taking care of yourself both mentally and physically is so so so important, even in small steps it can improve your life.

    Hats off my dude!

Sitting indoors all day playing video games or just browsing the internet and never leaving the house is no good anyone mentally or physically. I did it for years gaming and on this very website many years ago - I got nothing to show for any of it other than just a waste of time (not saying Sythe is a waste of time, but maybe not to the point one spends all day and all night on it).

Start running, go to the gym, pick up a sport - do something active, something is better than nothing.

When I started getting back into a routine, I found myself not only getting stronger physically but also mentally. I also made a few small changes with my diet—one thing that really helped was mixing milk powder into shakes or smoothies. It’s an easy way to add some extra protein and nutrients without overcomplicating things, especially when you’re trying to keep your energy up after a workout.
