What's a TV Show or Movie that most people like but you don't?

Some episodes have intelligent humor, but then some are just stupid.

 

Breaking bad, can't stand it.

 

Where are you at? I'm still in season two and either:

A) Walt is amazingly stupid beyond belief
B) Show has massive plot holes

Both just ruin the damn show.

 

You say Breaking Bad and then say The Walking Dead is the best show ever lol? Well I'll tell you that TWD is actually pretty overrated in my opinion and I've never cared for it at all. I'm not just saying that either.

How can anyone actually hate Breaking Bad? I can understand if it just isn't for you, but to say it's not well made, that there are plot holes, or no good characters is absolutely ridiculous and just plain false. I've seen a lot of shows some of my favorites being Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Prison Break and Breaking Bad tops them all. It's one of the most clever and original shows ever made.

I also thought Inception was extremely overrated. Same thing with The Godfather and Reservoir Dogs. They're definitely well made, but I still never cared for them. I also can't stand The Big Bang Theory. It's just not funny at all. Also a few other sitcoms are kind of dumb to me like Two and a Half Men and The Office. They do have some okay moments though.

 

It's not original. Have you ever heard of Weeds?

 

Yeah okay so the plots are a little bit similar because the main characters sell drugs? So what? Not every movie or show has to be 100% unique for it to be well made. Weeds also sucks anyways.

What plot holes? Give an example. And how is he stupid? Yeah he has made some dumb decisions especially this last season, but he is actually extremely intelligent and has proved so many times. You can't expect a high school teacher to be able to turn into some perfect drug dealing mastermind who makes all the best decisions overnight. It's called realism. Not stupidity.

 

The first few seasons were very good.

Season 2: One episode he gives Jessy his gun and says to handle the people. Two episodes later he asks what Jessy did and then Jessy pulls the gun and says he handled it. Walt flips out saying that's not what he meant. Yes it is.

Now. Either:

A) Walt is ridiculously stupid
B) There is a massive plot hole

 

I haven't watched season 2 in a while, so I don't remember that part. I'll try to go back and watch it. By handle it, do you mean Jesse killed them, got something back, or what? Maybe he didn't do what Walt meant for him to do. I always keep an eye out for plot holes and I've never found any in Breaking Bad. There have been some confusing parts that I eventually figured out and some dumb decisions made by some of the characters, but I don't always consider that bad. Some of the show definitely takes some re-watching to catch everything. Walt definitely isn't stupid. The season finale definitely showed that too.

 

Basically the problem is this:

Walt uses the gun to imply something.
Jesse uses the gun to imply something.

You would assume since they are being used in the exact same context with the exact same words that they mean the same thing. Walt apparently doesn't believe they do. Either he has a serious mental illness or he is just an idiot. He also is a complete douche bag. There's nothing likeable about him. Jesse is an annoying whining baby and is also an idiot. Why the fuck did he put acid in a fucking tub when he was told that it would eat through anything but the plastic?

So neither of the main characters is smart, nice, or likeable. The plot is also extremely slow and nothing really happens in every episode. They are laid out in such a way that you really get the problem right at the beginning and you get to watch these two morons try and figure it out. It just isn't very entertaining. I know what's going on. All I get to watch is two morons be morons about something that is fucking obvious.

Like this episode I'm watching. We learn immediately one of Jesse's guys gets arrested. Oh and that guy's an idiot too. Like the fact that the guy was a cop was so obvious. They made it so fucking obvious. Again. The viewer already knows what's going to happen and you just watch as some moron does something stupid that you already know is going to happen. And they are really slow at doing their moronic shit so you are sitting there for like ever waiting for what you already know is going to happen and cringing at how stupid the characters are.

So then later in the episode you are learning about what Jesse and Walt know about him getting arrested. Oh what's his name is short, he's working nights, yada yada yada. Well they just made a whole plot point about what the main characters know about what we already know. What the director already made obvious to us and bored us with watching the character discover it. Now I have to sit through this again and watch as more morons discover it while not advancing the plot in any way.

So now I'm 17 minutes into this episode:

The first 5 are about the guy wanting to buy crap and its obvious within like 30 seconds the guy is a cop. So then I have to sit through 4:30 of a moron being a moron. Then we get a commercial for a lawyer that drags on for awhile. I bet they hire him for the dude that just got arrested. Oh great foreshadowing. It's great to know exactly what's going to happen before it does. Then we get to a bit I can't complain about. Learning a bit about Jesse and his land lady that he's fucking. Then you go back to Walt and his wife and their scenes are always so boring because they last forever and they never reveal anything new and they never like say anything important and they seem to just be time fillers about how stupid and douchey his wife is. Then you have a time filler with the DEA dude. We already know that the explosion fucked him up. That was made obvious in the last episode. All the scenes with Walt and the DEA guy are just Walt dropping obvious hints that he is dealing meth. Why? Well Walt's a fucking dumbass. So really that scene was a waste of time too. Learned nothing from it. Then you get to Jesse and Walt counting the cash. Why does Walt make him recount the stack? It's already counted the other 20 right, most likely twice each. At some point you say, oh this thing does work, jolly good. Nope. Not Walt. He's too stupid to think that. Or the director just wanted to throw that in there and ignore the fact that the rest of the money was already counted and either:

A) The double checked each of them and the stupid exchange between them happened every time and Jesse just shows no emotion about it
B) Walt's an idiot
C) Director / writer is an idiot

Also: Walt has said like 9000 "Four pound should be $4565.38 each". Oh my fucking god. How many times are you going to put one line into the damn show? I mean. Fuck. We have had this scene like 3 or 4 times already. Please for the love of god get some new material. Do something not boring and obvious. Do something that has not been done in the show 9000 times already.

Also: Walt has the stupidest like single liners. "I want this machine running 24 hours a day." The fuck? You know you could just buy a second money counting machine and it would be a lot more efficient. And you could sort like lets say 6 stacks a minute. That's 86 million in a day. That will never happen. That's four TONS of meth EVERY day. Why would someone as "smart" as Walt, who like is praised as a god among chemists, say something so fucking stupid as implying they would sell four TONS of meth a day. Like. How stupid are the writers of this show?

 

I can't really say much because I haven't seen those episodes in years. The main thing you need to realize though is that when they are first starting out in the earlier seasons, they make a lot of dumb decisions because they don't know what the hell they're doing. That doesn't mean it's a plot hole or badly written. And when Jesse uses the acid in the bathtub, I don't remember Walt telling him it would burn through. This is both of their first times doing shit like this, so they aren't exactly pros. They start to learn and get better in the later seasons and they don't make as many mistakes. Of course they're are a lot of problems with the characters. I think that's what makes the show even better though. There are things that I love about some of them such as Walt or Jesse, but at the same time, there are things that I can't stand about them. Breaking Bad is widely considered one of the greatest shows of all time along with receiving multiple emmys. I definitely don't think it's perfect, but it really is a great show.

 

Game of Thrones just no. Don't like anything about that show, and I dare say it is garbage.

 

It really isn't a great show. I honestly do not see how it won any awards. GoT drops subtle hints. You go back and rewatch it and you catch some of them. Breaking Bad just throws them at your face and then beats you with them.

 

And now I'm reading some reviews on IMDB. All the "hated it" are spot on. The top "loved it" ones are just crap. I told x339 months ago that the pilot of breaking bad may have been the worst episode of a TV show I had ever seen and yet everyone is raving about how great it is. I honestly can not see why. It was just awful!

Well I guess all it really comes down to is opinion. I don't have a problem with the pilot. I absolutely love Breaking Bad and tons of people do too. It's probably the top rated show right now. Not everyone has the same taste though. You can find negative reviews about EVERY show. I also don't like Game of Thrones. I would much rather watch Spartacus. It's not a bad show, but I honestly just can't get into it. That's just my opinion though.

 

I am on the fence about GoT. It's interesting, but the show feels like it drags at a lot of points. I guess it is all opinion though. Some people hate breaking bad, but the majority agree that is one of the most well-written and well filmed shows ever made.

 

Mad Men, Dexter and Futurama. Don't think I would enjoy any of them anyway.

 

And they would be wrong. They may enjoy it. That doesn't mean it's good.

I agree about Mad Men. The pilot just didn't catch my attention at all.

 

I'm on S3 Ep 5 of BB, honestly I think it's awesome. Yeah, there's a few plot holes, but it doesn't spoil it at all in my opinion.

 

You have no right to say someone's opinion is wrong. It's fine if you don't like it, just don't go around trying to force your opinion on everyone else.
