The State of Botting in 2023

This is a redux of the previous thread made by a different individual…

Although I’m a big fan of Squire, the title of the thread was a bit misleading and not encompassing of the true state of botting in 2023. It also did not include a more exhaustive list of the numerous botting providers that are currently active.

Botting can be broken down into the many ways each botting software interacts with the OSRS client, and also the many different solutions available.

Here are (most) of the OSRS clients available in 2023:

Note: Many of the Java/Kotlin clients included handle interacting with the client in many different ways. I’m not going to get into the details of these methods, but they include: Sending mouse events, packets, or invokes.

Here are some OSRS botting solutions that interact externally in 2023:

• Injure Scripts
• Snorlax Scripts
• Hydra Scripts

And lastly, here is the only (as far as I know) maintained RSPS client available in 2023:

• Simplebot

Some of the clients (i.e., Storm and RLPL) can further be granulized into the various plugin providers/developers, and from there, the many different plugins available for each client. I say “for each client”, but it’s also worth mentioning that some plugins made for other clients are also compatible with the likes of Squire and Skillbox. This is knowledge that you’d have to read up on in the discord channels to understand what plugins work with which clients.

I understand I may be missing a few, but feel free to comment below some of your favorites or any I may have missed and I will try and update the thread accordingly!

Nice thread; thanks for this reference. And also, thank you for accurately informing everyone that Simba interacts externally with the client. Whereas we can (and almost all do) use a tool to inject input into the client for mouse/keyboard routines, everything else is simply read from the OEM client as a human would. Good thread.

Many more than what most people believe. Within the last few months of being online the Stats page has surpassed 5 years of run time, just of the scripts that have the API enabled to send statistics to the website. My estimate is around ~500 people using it at any give time and over 1,000 users in the community.

Interesting, I haven't botted in many many years. I don't believe I ever caught a ban even when i did.
