I thought that I should really start making sigs again, so I started with something simple.

Thoughts? I'd like some advice too on how to make more simplistic stock sigs since I've mostly ever only done the standard render+brushed background type thing. Personal opinions on the one above would be nice too :)

Ahh, good to see your getting other peoples input. Like I said on msn, seems abit too basic. If anything people will just think you made the gears. I know it took you about 10 - 15 layers for the blurs but it doesnt seem like enouph. I dont think there is anything else you can add to it to make it look "better".

I'm not necessarily asking people to suggest methods on how I can improve the current piece I have. I'm interested in that same style though, so what I'm asking for is thoughts on the current one and suggestions/advice for any future sigs I will make of the same style.

    I like it.

For Stock sigs, usually the best way to make it look nice is good, clear lighting, and a focus blur?
I'm not sure if it's called a focus blur, but you know what i mean (when the distance affects the amount of blur there is).

Also, since there's less to look at, colouring, placement and juxtaposing mulitple renders onto stocks can also be a wonderful way to make your sigs seem unique and stylised.
