Private Server Requirements

Hi

I'm currently in the process of setting up a private server [718] on a new community.

I have not made a Runescape Private Server in about 2 years or even worked on one in the past 12 months, all of which have been 317 servers.

Does anyone have any tips that the server of today cannot do without? Currently we have
- A website with IPB forums installed (the usual topics etc.)
- A server currently based on Validus
- A client that I have jarred and uploaded (I can create a webclient later but this is not a priority as chrome recently stopped supporting java.)
- A small VPS running on CentOS with 1.5gb RAM (this is for testing although I cannot imagine we would need much more RAM for at least a few months)
- A recent addition to the team - developer adept in Java although he has only worked on 317 servers

My current list of things to do / get in no particular order are
- More members (obviously)
- Develop website & rebrand forums with a custom skin
- Add what people feel would be a good unique selling point in a server
- Set client to read usernames from forum MySQL table (I've done this before with a 317 but never with a 714, help would be appreciated)
- Make sure content of server is up to date / update xp rates
- Set up the webclient once all above have been done and release alpha

I cannot think of anything else at the moment but I'm sure things will come to me as I start to develop both the website community and the server.

You might aswell post this on rune-server, runleocus, moparscape, or any of the other private server websites where people just post about private servers as you will more likely than not get a lot more responses there with people will to help you out. Here however most people don't play private servers as this just is just a black market for the most part. So far though your progress looks good for your server, good luck!
