Jagex Accounts question

I've been reading some posts and comments about people claiming that they were locked out of their accounts after importing characters that apparently they didn't own/create but I'm a bit confused.

Can the system automatically tell if a character imported to a Jagex Accounts is really being imported by the OO and the account doesn't get locked (or it's not really being imported by the OO and becomes locked) or does it only get locked if the character/account gets contested? (someone claims ownership over the account)

 

I've bought like 4 accounts so far and imported each one. Not one has been locked. I've also had some services done and neither has been locked.

It is probably locked after someone tries recovering the character back.

 

Yea, that makes sense. However, it should be way harder to recover a Jagex Account i guess

 

Not at all, unfortunately the characters are still recoverable, however, they would only be recoverable to another Jagex Account.

 

I would still buy from trusted only since the accounts can still be easily recovered.

 

True but only the OO can recover a character since the amount of details needed must be huge, right? It shouldn't be possible for a random hijacker to pretend that it's me and recover a character/account like it was done in the past with the old recovery system

 

I wouldn’t treat it any different to before, it’s jagex

 

If that's the case then what's the point of upgrading to a Jagex Account? I think that the new system improves the security of the accounts

 

More secure for people who made and use their own accounts, bought accounts are still not 'safe' and likely never will be.
