That's actually not what I expected I heard most providers take losses on their phones to earn money off the rate plans, although I guess because apple is just a cell phone manufacturer they need higher profit margins.

 

The thing is Apple is a trusted and well known corporation which basically gives them the ability to do this

 

I thought it'd be less.

When it costs $999 in Australia.

doesn't matter, apple made it, they can charge whatever they want. and i'll still buy it lol.

 

Its nice to all electronic products the same thing. This is not a surprise. If you are on eBay and many websites store their real RIPP1 dollars / feet, imagine how much it costs..

 

It's well known that markups on phones are 300%+

No surprise, apple spends a fortune on marketing/etc

 

Phones are rather cheap to make, expensive to market.
