"Identity wipe" on an account

Let's say you buy an account of a person who used to be very social, with hundreds of friends and the like, all of whom still have that account added on their friends lists. The seller obviously didn't tell them he'd sold his account, so when these people see you log in, they still think it's the seller logging in, and they talk to you/try to play with you as if you're the seller. For one thing, this could be a significant problem toward your enjoyment of the game, and for another, it could potentially be a security risk if a significant number of them deduce it's been traded and report it.

As such, how do you go about clearing the "player identity" of an account? Making the seller's friends forget about it, so you can play normally without other people thinking you're the previous player?

Changing the display name can of course be a good first step, but that has its own problems--they'll still see it on their friends list as having formerly been known as the old name, and more importantly, some accounts are traded entirely because of their display names, if it's a rare name or whatever, such that changing the display name would completely ruin the value of the account.

So how is this usually done?

Pretty much this, depending on the reasoning behind wanting to hide the identity. Private to friends and wipe the list if you want to keep the name, if not; do the same but with a double name change

 

Pretty hard to do, but double name change then just send them some weird ass messages. Or just talk to them lol

 

Like others have said, the way to go is change names so the previous one disappears from last known name. Can easily be known if they have a note but who actually uses that function. You should also have the private chat off for some month or so.

The most you can do is put friends list on friends, and delete the list of friends.
As well with that, do a double name change with a bond to completely remove the old display name.
After you change the name, power level some skills.
Don't turn your chat to 'on' until after total level is gained up and you change your name maybe a third time.

 

Set your chat to Friends and following the latter seems most pursuable. My personal advice would be removing them from your FC, CC, etc and allowing time to wither away their perceptions with you along with at least two display name changes. That’s what I’ve always done, especially with CCs, people are forgetful by nature, especially if you aren’t bossing, etc with them. Good luck! Update us with how things go if you can too!

 

When it comes to the clan chat, you can always check on the forums for any clan posts the account may have made. All you have to do is disable the CC after letting other people in the clan know that the clan is closing down. The people in the clan will spread this information between eachother very fast and the clan chat worry will be over very fast.

After that happens, double name-change your account, and then play on it for a bit making no new friends and keeping your chat off, making sure to gain total level and make your stats not as easily recognizable.

You can go as far as changing hair, and skin colour, and making sure you play on an 'awkward' home world like a mini-game world that nobody plays on and has low population.

After about a month you can double name-change again and you'll probably be fine to start talking to people and having your chat on etc.
