New graphics proposal for Oldschool Runescape

The idea would be to be able to have all the graphic options, so that everyone can play as they want but all on the same server without affecting the gameplay between players.


Mods have said they liked the ideas but still don't promise anything


What do you guys think about all this? Do you think it's gonna be a thing? and if so... what should we expect?

 

Seen a post like this already on sythe, I would absolutely love it and think its an amazing idea. The graphics would be one of the main things stopping new players from joining these days. If you had the option to flick between modes would keep the OG runescape players happy but appeal to new players also. I can only see bonuses from doing this! Just my opinion though!

 

I would actually love to see the game advance to pre-eoc, which was such a great one

This will attract a lot of new people. Just dont use the client before jagex says its ok. Last time people used the runescape hd client some got caught by the bot detection system.

 

I'm in the minority, but I think they look awful. Throwing high res textures on low poly models just doesn't fit in many areas. Plus the insane amount of bloom on everything reminds me of game devs in the 2006-2012 era masking bad base graphics with overdone lighting.

With some polish things could look way better (why is grass knee-high?), but that's no small job. Then you have to consider every new update means hd textures etc as well as the existing ones. Probably too ambitious.

Could easily happen some of these clients made by people it looks awesome.. Could easily be introducted into the game. Some of them look like a total different game. Look on YT.

 

Have you tried Fortnite? Looks completely different.

 

Why won't it happen if people are making there own clients?

 

Pre-eoc OSRS was arguably the best era of the game. However, I'd attribute most of that to the game itself (items, quests, etc.) and not specifically the graphics.

This is a neat idea that would be cool if it came to fruition.

 

I dont know about the graphics but putting summoning on Osrs would be cool as fk imo , anyone else thinks that ?. I used to love Summoning man those were the best times.

 

Oh dear god. I'm 99% sure this is sarcasm but I'm yet still so afraid that I'm wrong.

 

OSHD would be a huge addition, it would make the clunky looking game a bit more exciting and animated. Personally I don't care but I know a lot of people care about aesthetics.
