Why does Texas hate Runescape?

I am proud to be from Texas and always will be, but why the crap is it "illegal" to download the RuneScape client in Texas? I can't find ANY precedent or subsection in my brief (very brief) skimming of the Texas Judiciary Code. I figured that maybe it had something to do with Texas' strict gambling laws, and I can see the line drawn between buying spins from the wheel, but that leaves the question of why Texans can play ANY game that mixes game currency with the USD... I don't know, maybe this is just a venting thread, but does anyone have anything to add?

Oh and I can't say something bad about Texas without rectifying it with this: Southern Pride, fly the Confederate flag for state independence and NOT racial inequality- remember, Bender said "All races are equal..ly inferior to robots"

Can't tell if you're are trolling or not. First of, your title is ridiculous and makes you sound like you'reignorant. Second, why would d/ling the RS Client be illegal in Texas? How would people go and enforce this? What is the punishment/How much would the fine be??

Can you show PROOF that it is illegal, or am I just missing something here lol?

Surely this can't be true? How could Runescape possibly be banned anywhere?
Its just a video game... and the gambling aspect of it is extremely low overall compared to its content as a whole.

 

Weird, I didn't know that it couldn't be downloaded in Texas. I'm sure there are ways, such as a proxy of VPN.. but it's really not that great. I usually play in the RSBot client, or Firefox when the former isn't working. The only time I've used the client was several months ago when my Java was messed up and not working correctly. Personally, I didn't care for it.

I read that part (there is only 1 reference to it being illegal in Texas btw), and there is no proof on there to back that up.



Also keep in mind this is RS Wiki where anyone can edit stuff whenever they feel like. I still am not seeing any REAL proof that this is illegal in Texas and am not going 100% believe anything from Wiki sites, especially RS Wiki...

 

My question like many others is^... How do they enforce it lol, couldn;t you just download it in another state then how would they track you?

This state has great history but seriously some laws/legal stuff is just plain ridiculous.

I doubt whatever it is, it is not directly related to runescape, although i do remember like 8 or 9 years ago playing runescape in the public library like everyday in the summer until the librarian kicked me off. That might be related

i was in texas 5 months ago.. and i still was able to use the RS client and play normally??

 

i live in texas and have downloaded the client without any means of a proxy or anything else, i had no issues what soever. i NEVER have, on any computer or on any internet provider i have used in the past.

 

wasn't that timmy kid from runescape? there is a YouTube video of him "Timmy got hacked" lol'd, but I'm not 100% sure about this, I'm on my phone an cant check if he is or not. if infact he is from Texas i wonder if this has any relevance.

Really? wow tbh that is just stupid because this a video game and they shouldn't really have laws like this for it.
