While someone is actively scam quitting or very likely to scam, It'll be ideal to contact all recent vouches from their threads to say they're doing it.

It'll prevent more scams, could also use the chance to link to educational material to safe keep future trades more.

    [DENIED] PM Scam Alerts

    Kinda complicated
Also, “likely to scam” is somewhat subjective.

Can’t wait for when 20 people are PM’d that a guy is “likely to scam” and then his whole gold selling or account shop basically loses all business, despite not doing anything wrong.

Someone sees a high level member selling his / her minis could be considered “ likely to scam” because most scammers want to milk those mini ranks before they quit.

There is a reason we give DNT after a report. This is one of those things that sounds great, that would cause a big problem.

From why I have learned, anti-scam suggestions don’t and will not get any real traction due to how hard these are to implement.

An alternate suggestion would be to have a weekly list of users who have been banned, DNT, or scammed, and PM it to everyone like a newsletter to let everyone know.

If anything, a list of users that have current active scam reports against them should be readily available. Besides that, I'm not sure if this is worth a suggestion.

Would it be possible to push an alert, or send out a mass PM (like Eazy E said) from Sythe when someone is confirmed scamming?

Like when plankgang scamquit they @‘d everyone in the discord so I got an alert because otherwise I wouldn’t have known for another few hours. Would be cool to see this sitewide.

Or maybe, autowatch everyone on a thread that gets updated with scammers.

That being said, I don’t really care either way. Sythe staff already do a great job of catching scammers/vaders, and many people who get scammed could have avoided it with smarter trading practices.

Not everyone on Sythe trades on discord. Not to mention Discord is hilariously easy to imposter/MitM/Nitro scam anyone.

too many PMs. I am sure about dozens of people are banned a day. I think that we should have a weekly list, or a thread that id dedicated to scams.

One mod can be in charge of copy and pasting all recently banned members in a thread. At the end of each week a list can be sent out. We can not allow for 1 alert / ban because this would over flow everyone's alerts.

Not everyone, only relevant scamquits. Some random with 3 post count that recovered an account wouldn’t need a tag, but someone like plankgang would

So now we leave it up to staff to determine whether or not somebody scamquitting deserves a community announcement. I think that an active, constantly updated list of people with current scam reports against them is our safest bet - regardless of their status.

An active constant updated like.. almost like the list of threads reporting users in the Report a Scammer section?

Sure, but maybe a more formal list. @'ing or tagging every single person in this community when someone that is considered trustworthy goes on a scamming frenzy simply isn't feasible. It will clog peoples accounts beyond belief

    2018 Notable Banned Users Thread

Not that many. Not all of those are even scamming related. Trusted community members don’t scam that often, I don’t see how it would cause and spamming of the notification system

Also why a formal list if there is already a list in the form of threads in the RaS section? It’s unnecessary

It's not about updating a list of banned users, its to warn people of an active scam quit that is relevant and could impact them. It's not a big ask, but even a @everyone in Discord would suffice in warning people. On occasion there's a scam quit can affect a lot of people and just this early warning could help people incredibly with scam prevention.

Who’s to choose if sythe.org should send an alert out to everyone? Let’s say I scam quit, am I significant enough to get a shoutout on sythe.org?

If discord @‘s everyone at least once a week so many people are going to leace it, unnecessary spam

IMO it's inpossible to implement without actual feedback tab instead of vouches list in thread.

I think the issue is educating users, especially newcomers, more on the availability and use of middlemen, especially free but trusted middlemen. I see even today newcomers who'd willingly trade hundreds of mil, even a billion gp to other users simply because they dont know about middlemen. Which is pretty baffling to me since this middleman option is literally adevertised right in users' faces at every trading section.

I swear ya'll want lists for everything. If there was a list, no one would read it. Guaranteed.

Anyway, I'm all for @everyone anytime someone relevant scamquits. Not sure if there is a feature that Admins+ can do to send warning PMs to every member regarding a scamquit, but if it can be implemented, that wouldn't be bad at all.
