Black Alistar Codes; Re-released?

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but people have started selling codes for Black Alistar, which hasn't been obtainable for a few years minimum. Does anyone know where these codes are coming from?


Codes seem to be selling for $500+... Wow.

 

Seems Connorp's the only guy selling them from what I've seen?



Just discovered a couple for sale on other sites too.

 

There was probably a new code generator programmed recently. Riot makes thousands of each skin, and not every skin gets claimed at a PAX event. The leftover cards are thrown away, but their keys are active.

Not sure why people are paying so much for it though, i know it's rare but it's not like it's even that good of a skin.

 

Nobody even plays Alistar.

 

you know that most of skin buyers purchase those skins because of rarity and not for meta champs right?

im so curious about this "black alistar code" method that works on euw/eune, i've seen some talk about it on other foruns but noone said how it worked

 

1. These are not generated/brute forced codes they were just leftovers that were never sold and someone happened to have a hold of them that is all the knowledge i have as for the code working for only euw/eune is not fishy at all as that is how PAX TF/Human Ryze/Silver Kayle only work for 2 servers each these codes are very rare that is why the price is so high it is a collectors item just like investing in a 100 year old coin.

I really doubt after i sell out of my current black alistar codes i have left i will never/very hard to get my hands on a correct code again.

a) How did you get the code, if someone just found them lying around?

b) Why do you have 5+ yourself while other skin shops also have multiples? Surely this "person" didn't find 20+ codes lying around...

 

This is also what I am thinking? maybe a certain person was given a handful at pax? or idk I am quite curious myself if someone really was too hang onto this many codes for 5 years, and then randomly decide boom time too sell..

 

Most plausible explanation is that an original code was found, and sold to a site/someone with a code-bot that re-creates similar algorithms as said code, some worked, some didn't, and are thus being sold.

That's how all codes are created AFAIK. I'd say 10% are actual PAX codes from said event, 20% given by RIOT for winning competitions, etc, and the rest bot generated.

However, their life will be limited, meaning, the bot generated codes cannot surpass the actual amount of authentic codes/PAX cards produced for said events; so these skins will still always be relatively rare.

I.e, if RIOT produced 400 PAX Sivir codes for an event in 2010, and only 150 were distributed/used, then the remaining 250 can be created by said bots. However, once the threshold of 400 is reached, no more can be created, and thus, skins are rare.

This is what I think anyway, and what others have told me.
