Divine vs Elysian

Hey guys, once again I am back with my best item/skill questions.
This time, I would like to know what the main differences between the Divine Spirit Shield and Elysian Spirit Shield are. Also, I was wondering in which situations/scenarios each shield would be the most useful in. Furthermore, I would like to know which spirit shield you would choose and why. Please take the price of each shield into consideration as well. Thanks for taking your time and answering my questions.

 

Divine - Soaks 30% of damage 100% of the time with a small prayer drain.
Ely - Soaks 25% of the damage 70% of the time.

Divine is obviously superior at most things. Ely is only better at DK's and TD's.

 

Divine in my idea...it's the most expensive for a reason.

 

elly, divine is a pain in the ass with prayer drain. useless for training.

If you can't afford a Divine then get a Ely. ;p

 

Who spends that much money for a very slight improvement for training? LOL wow, anyone who has enough money to afford these shields most likely are max melee anyway lmfao

Coming from someone who has owned both for extensive periods of time, the divine is obviously better at pretty much everything. The prayer drain is made negligible by the amount of increased efficiency you get as opposed to not using it. You actually stay LONGER at bosses with one than without one, you just need more potions rather than food. It's a very noticeable increase in performance vs an Elysian. The Elysian is still a very helpful item for anything whether it be bossing or pking. Any concern of getting smited out for divine should be eliminated if you just keep conscious of your prayer points and stay above 60 or so. Never ever let your prayer get below about 30, you never know when you can get claw specced by someone with SS on and drop your pray really fast (especially if you're already using prot item, berserker, turmoil, soul split, etc)

Pointless question if you ask me, if Elysian was better in any way, Divine wouldn't cost so much more.

Btw: anyone who seriously votes for Elysian has never owned a divine, and probably not an Elysian either.

An Elysian will let you last longer at bosses because their is less prayer drain. Sure a divine will make you take less damage but you'll run out of prayer pots sooner.

 

Read my above post, the prayer drain is made negligible by the less food you have to use. You can bring more pots since you use less food. You wind up staying a significant amount longer with a divine.

Also as said previously. If Elysian was more efficient, it would be the more expensive shield.

 

Use a Pack Yak then for more prayer potions, since you won't have to use as many brews because of your great damage reduction. You can also use a demonhorn necklace for free prayer restores when burying bones.

 

A divine is more expensive because there are less in the game.

If your using nex armour then a ely is fine, I could see you wanting a divine if you had bandos.

 

I don't have exact statistics or anything but intuition tells me that the demonhorn necklaces aren't worth it considering you'd be losing either an inventory slot, or your fury. Also in all the time that they have been out I have never heard anybody refer to them as anything other than a colossal waste of time and dungeoneering tokens.

 

Do you have exact statistics on how many there are of what item? They may be hoarded more, but again this is because they are the more useful of the two shields. Have you ever actually owned either of them? If you had, you would probably agree that the divine is much more efficient. You use less food, therefore have to take less of it, thereby making more room for super restores. I used to bandos every day with maxed gear (pre-nex) and I went through both shields, and found that the divine allowed me to stay longer by a significant margin, somewhere like 10% longer. At face value yeah it may seem like Ely is more efficient but trust me it is not, ask anybody who has actually tested one/owned one/took real statistics about both shields. Ely does not work 100% of the time, and the "average" of 17.5% negated is just that. An average. The shield could decide to kick in a 50 lp hit, and decide not to on a 500+ hit. With a divine, you don't have to worry about the shield deciding not to work at inopportune moments (seems to happen a LOT with ely)

Also, this isn't a thread about what's "fine", we're speaking purely in efficiency here, and the divine is significantly more efficient.

 

Why would you train with either of them, use a dragon defender.

No it does not make you last longer.
Have you tried both? I doubt it.

I've had both and i've tested them out. I've lasted over 400 kills at bandos with divine (Still had 4 super ppots).

Elysian I did 300.

I don't remember the exact math to it, but if you get hit a 1000 (as an example)
You'll only get hit 700, and you'll only drain 20 p points.

One ppot sip = 1 1/2 brew sip.

If you have a divine, you don't need to bring food to half the bosses, only ppots.

Elysian can't do as good, hence the reason why it's substantially cheaper.
If elysian was better it would be more expensive than divine, use your brain.

 

I only use Nex Amour when bossing, that already lets me avoid almost all of the damage.

Misguiding people isn't a good thing to do.

I personally only used nex gear for warring / corp & nex.
Everywhere else is a waste as it costs like 300k an hour to use.
Most the time you don't make 300k an hour at bosses.

Obviously money isn't a big issue, but that's just me. I don't like spending money I don't have to lol.

 

Divine, in almost every way, obiviously lol.

 

I owned a divine before and they aren't good if you're going to use it to no-life training combat and at some cases slayer as well.

But divine SS is an absolute life saver when it comes to fighting Jad, nex, gwd bosses etc. Imo it's much better if you use it to fight strong monsters or training for a short period of time.


Elysian can be better than divine when it comes to botting combat 24/7 since it doesn't drain anything.
