Being completely honest, I am certain the people of Pakistan knew where Osama was hiding; but they were either too scared or too defiant to bother telling America where he was.

Obama and the CIA had information that Osama was hiding in a compound in Pakistan in August 2010. They had enough information to confirm that he was indeed there.

 

Obama said it was in Pakistan and it was a special forces mission that resulted in a short fire fight that ended with Osama dead with no Americans hurt.

 

Apparently 20-25 were killed in one go
