Make having sythe username mandatory when selling accounts

I think this would just lead to less accounts getting posted in general.

I agree with the sentiment and the reason behind it, but at what point are we causing a massive fuck around for the majority of people, just to protect the small minority of people who are getting scammed by trading randoms?

As sad as it is, if somebody's willing to give $500+ to a brand new sythe account, I think they'll find another way to get scammed regardless.

Again, agree with the reasoning behind the suggestion 100%, but I don't think the benefits outweigh the negatives. (Less posts, less activity on Sythe etc)

 

If there are concerns about a "verify RS account" system being introduced impacting activity / making users more reluctant to post an account sale - just make the "verify RS account" option optional and not a mandatory requirement. It may make a buyer more reluctant to buy a "non-verified" RS account, which in turn will encourage more sellers to verify their RS accounts if they want to make a sale. So hopefully this would come full circle and make it more awkward for a scammer to fake an RS account and the legit sellers will obviously see no problem verifying their RS account because they actually possess it and want to sell it.

If a "verify RS account" system is introduced, add a disclaimer in to state along the lines of "A verified RS account is not a guarantee of a 100% safe sale / the RS account will not be recovered in the future. You should take the usual precautions and exercise caution when buying an RS account, verified or not".

No support, i dont think this should be mandatory. Like others said its too easy to fake it in runelite nowadays. It wont stop a scammer from posting an account, it would only hurt the legit sellers. Its very little effort though, so it would be a nice thing to do if you are a legit seller. But mandatory isnt the play imo, could add something like: 'we strongly advice to add your sythe username in the chatbox' though.

 

Customers can do their due diligence before trading. If they don’t trust the situation, they can choose to use a MM. These are realistic and viable solutions.

Having Sythe act as the internet police is not practical

Can someone explain more in detail, what this 'verify rs account' would entail? What if you have multiple accounts of the same build and cba to post the slightly different stats each time?
