btw Sythe if you read this, I'm sorry for pretending to be a communist and trolling you so hard while I was an admin back in 2005. It was pretty messed up that you de-admin'd me on christmas, though. I remember that bittersweet day when I got my xbox 360 and got de-admined haha. I hope now you have better things to do on Christmas. And if you don't, or if any of you don't, I will talk to you and we will be friends.

Hey man good to see the most senior members coming to check in on their roots this was my 2nd account I made in 2010 because I lost access to to the one I had from 08. I'm definitely not as old as you are but I stayed playing in 02 and just recently came back after a 4 year break. Just bought myself a lil starter acc to get back into the swing of things I've always found those community very interesting in a buisness sense and in a community sense. If no one wants to chit chat and be your friend I will lol. Hope the Xbox is doing well haha . For me the last 20 years has been just work and adult life. I recently turned 30. I've been running my own mechanic ship for about 15 years now.

It looks like only you and I in this thread, Jansen, originated in RuneCMS. It's awesome to see another veteran still around; we're a dying breed!

Since then I've remained in or near the RS cheating scene. For several years I've been a part of various botting platforms as they came into existence. Then for a few years I inched into the RSPS scene when it was originally introduced (Wolf, Project16, maybe some of you have heard of me). Now back into the OSRS cheating scene. My journey began shortly after AutoRune was killed and SCAR came about. These days I spend my time working with Simba and WaspScripts (I'm Flight, by the way).

 

I got an uncomfortable feeling when I realized I'd been around these parts for just 5 years. Then came 10.. Curse you for highlighting year 20+ (lol). Few things make me feel old, but how long I've been in some form of a relationship with RuneScape is one of them.

I was only a tech savvy user during the AutoRune days, but really came into my own as a developer during the Aryan era. I hung around mitb mostly, also partook in the private server scene there which was huuuge at the time. I stuck around mitb, villavu, freddy1990, rsforums, and many non-cheating communities like zybez, tip.it, swiftirc (moderated a few of them), during the time of SCAR, Simba, and RSBot type Java bots until around 2011 or so then took a break from RS in general. I came back briefly in 2014 and really enjoyed the renewed RSC bot APOS (even though RSC was mostly dead at this time), and built a few widely used scripts for that.

In that early era I'd graduated, gotten a job (successfully cited RS bots in my first interview!), gotten married, and had kids. Since then I built a strong career and have done pretty well for myself and family. The RS cheating community really set me up for success (who would have thought - certainly not my parents). I attribute a lot to the competitive nature of building RS bots in my younger years. Many people went to school and got relevant software engineering degrees, but few could honestly say they'd been writing and selling code successfully for years (a decade?) prior to graduating. The experiences in these communities were truly formative and for that I've been really thankful. Funny enough I've kept in touch with a few guys that basically lived the same thing. Wouldn't be surprised if some of you are in a similar boat.

It's funny to mention this since I'm posting here, but I always tried to avoid Sythe (sorry). I'm thankful for its relative stability through the years (something uncommon in this space), but I always seemed to have bad blood and suspect foul play with one or two of the staff members that led to it not being a very nice place to be (not naming names, long gone now). People that we knew were involved in shady business on other sites would somehow build up big businesses here. It always seemed odd. I guess that's been corrected at this point though.

I was 6 years late to the party. Spent most of my time from 2006-2009 on RSBot, before they changed into Powerbot. Time flies…

Wow it’s been awhile. I don’t hold the commy stuff against you, we all were strongly opinionated and we were kids for the most part. That being said thank you for not scamming and breaking the communities trust when your demotion happened because a scammer who became staff whispering in peoples ear played politics.
