Why do I lag in full screen?

I have always been able to run runescape HD in full screen until recently. It will be fine for about 5 minutes but then get very choppy and hard to play. In fixed screen it works fine and isn't choppy at all. I have ran spyware checks and scanned for viruses and haven't found anything. I have no other problems with my PC besides when I try to run runescape in full screen.

My specs are as follows: Windows 7 home premium
Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 2.60 GHZ
8.00 GB ram
64 bit operating system
nvidia geforce 9500 gt

Possibly it's something with your other windows trying to override it or something. I'd try using the client you can download from the runescape site.

 

I do use the client from the runescape site. This just started happening about a week ago (was fine for months before in full screen).

 

Possibly internet connection? If not, just set your java to highest priority and try to minimize the amount of applications you are running.

 

My internet isn't the problem. How would I set java to highest priority?

 

This happens to me alot! Which is why I do not play with full screen anymore. It happens even when I have nothing else open, or when I have full internet connection. Occasionally I play on my laptop, and if works beautifully there, the stats of both computers are nearly identical, but my laptop has a faster processor and a much better graphics card. It could be one of those or a combination of the both.

 

Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del. Go to "processes," right click on "Javaw.exe," and set priority to "Above Normal." Anything higher then that and it might lag you even worse.

 

Possibly backround programs or anti virus maybe the ruenscape updates.

 

Nah its not background problems or anti virus. Believe the problem is with my graphics card. Nothing much I can really do besides upgrading.

 

Too many other programs are running? Clear your folders from unused junk? If all else fails, take it into a specialist if you're REALLY concerned why your computer is lagging.

And I figured out that my fan on my Geforce 9500 GT isn't even spinning. Looking into replacing the fan, or the card in general.

 

I doubt its your fan... Try upgrading your Graphic card to an

ATI Radeon

They are the best one out so far!

Any card ~$100 should do you fine for runescape + any other games you plan on playing.

My first suggestion would be to download the new java update which came out over the last few days. Also try reinstalling it and see if that helps.

 

My fan is burnt out on my graphics card no doubt. It's overheating and gets choppy. Geforce 9500 GT isn't a very good card so I will be buying a new one shortly. Thanks for all the feedback!
