Go Army!

Well i Was thinking about joining the army after my dad passed away,he is a veteran from the army and it was always his dream for me to follow in his foot-steps.

I love my dad fully,but i dont know if thats why dream,and if i should still do it,what are your opinions?

Well I'm sorry, but you clearly don't understand the concept of war. The army involves more than just "selling out your soul" and "murdering" people. I suggest doing some research to understand the actual reality why people join the army.

Scared of marines

 

There is nothing to be scared of in the Marines. Most of my family have joined the Marines, two being scout snipers, and aside from the two that were s/s nothing was 'too hard'. As for your comment on the Army beating the Navy.... You have got to be kidding me.

 

I do understand the concept of war, that doesn't mean i have to agree with it. I would hope people wouldn't join to just murder people, hence the satire in that post.

 

I say join, if you got nothing better going with ur life, do it! (this is not meant to be offensive)

 

As a former Marine I strongly advise against enlisting , Go make your dad proud some other way , like going to school and getting a good education , I can almost gaurantee that you will regret that descision and especially dont enlist if it is a last resort or if your just bored , that would definitley be a big mistake . All in all its not worth it , I found myself fighting for something i didnt even care about .. and i have alot to care about like my wife and daughter and i sure as hell didnt want to die fighting for what? oil.. or whatever , just dumbass politics. If you do anything join the coast gaurd.. you cant get deployed.

Why do you want to go?

 

You should do what you want, I would never have an issue with my child joining the military. It is a life changing process and if it is something you want to do then go for it. Support.

You don't have to go on active duty. You can always go guard / reserve. You could stay in your state the entire time, and just go to the nearest base. And if you're going to get in for engineering or something, join the Air Force. It's the easiest Basic from what I hear, and also pays the best. The only requirement is scoring fairly well on your ASVAB, which if you're thinking of going the engineering route, I feel like you wouldn't have a problem with that.

Just something to think about

 

If you want to be an engineer, there are plenty of opportunities where your constructions won't be used to kill people.

Why do you want to join the army, other than because your father did?
