Who thinks avatar is really that good?

Don't get me wrong, its a good movie. One that you will have to see in theaters to actually appreciate, as no tv can betray as much detail and the 3d effects that this movie possesses. However, i do not think its as good of a movie as everyone makes it out to be. I went and saw it at 11PM a week after it came out, and got out around 2. The story line took ages to actually find out (getting stuff from under the tree, seriously?). So, post your thoughts on the movie.

Audio - 10/10
Visuals - 10/10
Story line - 4/10.

Why so low on the story line? Its the same as a popular disney movie, pocahontas. It is just set in the future, with giant blue aliens.

I actually haven't watched it. I really want to as most people I've spoke to have said it's fantastic.

 

Play your hopes down, then go see it.

 

The 3D was actually well played out, unlike other movies. The stuff that needed to be 3D was, and wasn't obnoxious about it. I have seen plenty of disney movies in 3D, and there whole point was to make the kids say wow. You could tell it wasn't the point in this movie.

It was a good movie, but nothing amazing. It was overplayed just like the halo series.

 

the movie was awesome but not the best ever, and i too agree that the story line is exactly like pocahontas

 

I thought overall it was a great movie, Even though the story line was generic it was still a very well done movie.

Good movie? Yes. Over hyped? Yes.

Some people really exaggerate how great it was. It was fun and enjoyable, but certainly not as awe-inspiring as many have said.

 

It is not overhyped... This is the only movie that deserves to get a lot of attention and hype.

By far, one of my favorite movies. Probably the greatest CGI effects I have seen in a long time. Story line tended to get off a little bit, but by far, one of my favorite movies.

Watch that movie. Avatar is way over hyped. Now, if it were its own storyline then it would be amazing. However its not.

I'm looking at it like a little boy who takes interest in all the positives. There are always some sort of negative in everything, but doesn't take away what the movie is.

I understand that the plot isn't like something out of a brand new show box. However, I did not mention anything about the plot, just said the story got off track.

 

It does take away from the movie, in every aspect. If you can't even come up with a good story line, that is original, whats the point of even making it?

I never said you said anything about the plot, learn how to read. I said the story got off more than a little bit.

 

Visually- stunning.. as far as the story goes, mediocre at best. James Cameron has always been overrated in my eyes.

if you intend on seeing this film, view it in the IMAX 3D, don't pick a substitute. Avatar was groundbreaking as far as technological progression in cinema, so if you're a movie fan you will see this- but don't bother if you plan on renting it through dvd.

 

I haven't seen it and don't plan on it. The previews looked absolutely HORRIBLE. Way over hyped if you ask me.

 

It is a good movie for sure, it just takes about an hour to see what they are trying to do on the planet. The 3D is purely amazing, along with the audio. If you plan on seeing it, play down your hopes though. I was expecting an amazing movie and all i got was dissapointment

Overall, 7.

If the audio and visual's weren't so spectacular, i wouldn't even recommend this movie. You have to realize that im ADHD and can't sit there for that long, also. If you plan on seeing it, you HAVE to see it in 3D, and in theaters. That is the only way you will actually enjoy the movie.

 

Although the storyline was basically the same concept as Pocohontas, I still enjoyed the movie. It still felt like a fresh story to me.

 

3d was absolutely amazing.
i give it a 5/5!
