I saw that the other verified fishing guide was out of date, and lacked some other ways on how to get 99 fishing, so I'd though I would make this guide.

Introduction:

In this guide, I'll be explaing various methods to get to 1 - 99 fishing, outlining the fastest and the money making ways. If you use this guide successfully you should be able to get 99 fishing in a couple of months, that's how long it took me.

Items to start:

Fly Fishing rod
Fishing rod
Alot of feathers/fishing bait
Crayfish cage
Games necklace (optional.)
Lobster pot (optional.)
small fishing net (optional.)

Levels 1 - 10

There are many ways to get from level 1 - 10 fishing, you can either catch shrimp, or the fastest way, catching Crayfish. Which are located here:



Crayfish are 10xp each, You'll need to catch 110 to progress to level 10. You'll also made a 2k profit off these. Once you get one in your inventory, drop it for faster xp. If you don't want to do this, let the inventory fill up and sell these to the general store. You should get to level 10 in a matter of minutes. These are the fastest xp until level 10, don't start baiting until you reach level 10.




Levels 10 - 20

Congratulations, you now have 10 fishing. Now that you have level 10 fishing, you can now start bait fishing for Herring and Sardine. The best spot for this is here:

Sardine are 20xp, while Herring are 30xp each. It will take 166 Sardine untill level 20 fishing or 111 Herring until 20 fishing. This will take a little while longer then a couple of minutes, but are the best xp. You can either get a full inventory of fish, then bank at Draynor OR for faster xp drop the Sardine/Herring everytime you fish one.



Levels 20 - 40/99 for F2P (Fastest xp way.)

Congratulations, you're now level 20 fishing. Fly fishing is one of the fastest methods in the game for fishing xp for F2P. To Fly fish, buy a fly fishing rod and feathers from the GE and walk to Barbarian Village, located here:


Trout are worth 50xp each, and at level 30 you can catch Salmon, which are 70xp each. You need to catch 260,600 trout from level 20 fishing to get to 99 or 186,016 Salmon from 30 to get to 99. For fast xp, ranging from 30 - 50k an hour as soon as you get a fish drop it. If your lazy, you can get a full backpack and drop them all OR you could Fly Fish at lumbridge, get a full inventory and sell the fish to the general store.



Levels 20 - 40/99 for F2P (Slower xp, better profit way.)

I don't recommend this way, it's slow and hardly worth it, but It's the best way to make any money from fishing in F2P. now that you're level 40 fishing, head to karamja and bring your lobster pot. Lobsters are located here:


Basically, fish lobsters here and sell them to the General store. Lobsters are worth 90 xp each, You'll need to catch 144,414 of them to get to 99. Raw lobsters sell to the general store for 119gp each 144,414 x 119 = 1718266, which is a profit of 17m.



Levels 20 - 70 for P2P (Great xp, 1m profit way.)

Requirements: Shilo Village

You can even go to 99 here, if you wish. Basically, you fly fish at Shilo Village. Many people choose this place because there's a bank nearby. I recommend you drop every fish you get for 50k xp an hour. If you bank all your fish, you can get around 30 - 40k xp an hour. Here is where Shilo Village is located:

Trout are worth 50xp each and Salmon are worth 70xp. You'll need to catch 14,009 Trout or 10,006 Salmon to get to level 70. If you do it the fast xp way, you won't be making a profit.



Levels 40 - 99 for P2P (Okay xp, better profit way.)

This is a great way to 99 fishing, it supplies alot of money and decent xp. I'm talking about catching lobsters at catherby or the fishing guild. I won't supply pictures for this method, because I've basically explained how to do it in the above section. However, instead of making a 17m profit, with the current lobster prices you will be making a 60m profit.

Levels 62 - 99 for P2P (Okay xp, Great profit way.)

Monkfish are one of the best balanced ways to fish, meaning that it's good xp and good money.

Requirements:

You'll need a small fishing net to catch them and they're located here:



Fish them with a small net, then bank them at the nearby bank. Monk fish are 120xp fishing experience and 150 cooking xp each and you'll need 105,839 to get to 99 from 62. You'll be making a profit of 60m from 62 - 99.

Levels 70 - 99 for P2P (Fastest xp ingame, no profit.)


Requirements: 45 strength, 45 agility.

Congratulations, you've reached level 70 fishing. This method is for people how want 99 fast, and no profit. This method is called barbarian fishing at otto's grotto. All you'll need is around 10k feathers (you can re-stock on the way.) I'm not going into how to cut these fish up for cooking xp, because you're sacrifising to much fishing xp to do that. Here is were this location is located.



When you get there, the first thing that you'll need to do is talk to Otto (his house is located in a red circle in the picture,) and tell him that you want to barbarian fish. Once you've done this, search his bed and you should get a heavy rod.


Once you've done this, click "use-rod," on a fishing spot and start fishing. You can catch leaping trout, leaping salmon and leaping sturgeon at this fishing spot. Leaping trouts are worth 50xp each, Salmon are 70xp each and sturgeon are 80xp each. You'll need 245,937 trout untill 99, 175,669 Salmon untill 99 OR 153,711 Sturgeon untill 99. At this spot, if you drop 1 fish at a time you can go up to 70k an hour, or if you drop just the full inventory you'll average 50k an hour. These fish also give out strength and agility xp, and when cut cooking xp.

Congratulations! With all the following steps acted up you now have 99 fishing!

So now that I have 99 fishing, how can I make even more money?

The answer is simple, fish sharks!



Sharks are currently worth 1590gp each, so every 1k you're making 1.5m!

OR

You can do cave fishing, which is located in the falador mine



You can either fish rocktail or cavefish here. I recommend fishing rocktail, which are worth 2k each. To fish cavefish, you need normal bait and a fishing rod. To fish rocktails you need living minerals, I recommend buying the bait from the GE, not killing and mining the monsters which is a waste of time.



NOTE: The monsters here are lvl 120+ and are aggressive, fish here at your own risk!

Also, what about fishing at Karamja for a full load of lobsters, teleporting back to Draynor, banking, heading back and repeating? That's how I trained from 70-81.

 

I'll put that in now.

That's a stupid way to do it, I thought about including that but it's really not worth it. That way would be about 5 - 10k xp an hour.

I've been fishing in Shilo for a long time now although I've found it's the most efficient XP for leveling to 99. I am currently 97 and 62% to 98. Anyone that is looking to get to 99 the fastest way possible, I recommend this method.

 

No, you're wrong.

It's been proven on many times that barbarian fishing at otto's grotto is better.

You're getting the second best xp in the game, while the best is barbarian fishing. Which tops 70k an hour. Don't post false information on my thread, I've researched alot and have 99 fishing, you only have 97.

I believe monk fish are faster and better xp when you can fish them.
