[Denied] Create a Sell Clan Name section! - new [OSRS] market

Hey, so recently a Clans System has been added to OSRS and the clan names are unique.

I think a "Runescape Clan Name Sales" section should be added to the "Runescape Item and Name sales" section of the forums.

I've already seen a few unique clan names being owned including:

PK
PVM
quest
LOL
gg
dragon
chill
zezima
australia
germany
the darkness
toronto
Billionaire
revival
Supreme
castlewars
breathtaking
euphoria
community
iron
.... and so on, you get the point

these are just examples I saw in game.
so pretty any skill, activity, common phrase, etc just like display names.


There's some pretty sick names and I discovered you can reliably transfer ownership, its really easy now since clans are new (instant) and even after, it is still reliable (the transfer process takes longer - 1 week - for established clans, I'm sure an MM can handle this if needed to hold onto the cash while it processes).

No login information is needed to complete a clan name transfer, everything is done in game and as long as parties are trusted or MM is included, a transaction is safe and actually SAFER than transferring RS usernames as sniping can be easily avoided.

I have also created a full guide on how to transfer clan names and sell them, as well as how name sellers can set everything up. If my suggestion is accepted and / or has interest, I will share full instructions and request a sticky.

Also, I will help name sellers set everything up and show them how it is done if they already don't know how (upon request)


I think this is something Sythe should have on the forums and that could be handled like the names section in the Runescape Item and Names Sales.

I do NOT recommend adding it to the display names section as the first couple pages get filled with all the sellers name shops and it would create confusion as display names and clan names are two completely different things.

 

I don't think a new section is needed for this. I feel it can just be advertised in the Runescape Name Sales' section. No support on a new section.

Edit: Actually, I support this. Like you said it can be added to the overall section, like so.

 

Alternatively, to generate hype and potentially get in early in terms of forums having a dedicated section to buy/sell these names, it may prove fruitful to create a subsection for it, under name sales. In the event there's no traction and activity, it can be archived.

There will not be a need for this tbh. The clan names will not be exactly a "rare" or "valuable" thing that people will spend money for. Reason being, is at the moment they are being given out for free through favoritism, i know a few people that have claimed multiple single letters without mods even catching them. Secondly, back in the day this could of been rare, but with the way rs currently does things like advertisement via Facebook, twitter, and reddit clans names are already established and conguncively put together.
I would also point out, that at the moment we do not really know the directions in which these clan names would be utilized (obv other than it being a clan) but in the means of what would be the necessity for a clan in terms of utilizaiton/events?
All in all, if this does pass and they need to create or merge this into the #runescape-item-and-name-sales thread so be it, but i feel it is not necessary at it's current time in suggestion.

 

I feel like maybe in the future when most words are taken maybe then is when clan names would have value. But there are still many words not taken maybe the update is to fresh. But I don’t see them having value anytime time soon

Agreed. Could attract more traffic which is always a good thing. If it doesn't work out after a few months, nix it.

Hello! I would also urge you to please re consider this section! I have over 50 rare and top tier clan names currently in my possession and they are all more than likely going to all be sold in one go to one of the top name sellers in the marketplace in just a few hours. I put one post out on Sythe in the name sales thread and had over 10 people message me.

I have to agree with you that the market is new, however I strongly disagree that there is no market out there. I have done nothing to advertise the names anywhere except the one thread, only bumped a couple of times, and already have people wanting to buy. One name... the offer was 800M+....

Opening a new thread for Clan name sales is so important for the market to also develop and form into what I believe could be thriving right now. This in my opinion is what Sythe is all about, creating markets and market demand when new opportunities present themselves.

So please, I would also kindly ask this is taken as reconsideration and you open up a thread for Clan Names.

Thank you for your support! Glad to know there is a market out there, which I felt there was but have no way of really knowing yet. I have one rare name myself and have seen a few other nice ones, it might take some time for them to go, but people will want them, they are unique and they can be advertised, flexed, and used between players.

 

I guess now is a good time to post my Clan Name Creation and Transfer guide as well! - assuming this does become a thing. I have steps to make the process easy and straightforward for everyone, since it is so new and not everyone is aware of everything involved with it. This post shall serve as a supporting info / documentation for the suggestion, should it be accepted.

-Clan Name Creation and Transfer-

Transfer process

You can reliably transfer ownership, its really easy now since clans are new (under 90 days), and even after, it is still reliable (though the transfer process takes a week to do once a name is established, I'm sure an MM can handle this if needed to hold onto the cash while it processes).

***No login information is needed to complete a clan name transfer!***, everything is done in game and as long as parties are trusted or MM is included, a transaction is safe and actually SAFER than transferring RS usernames as sniping can be avoided.

Names are held per account by creating a clan. Clans require 5 members (owner + 4 more) to create, and once created, are held by an account with that unique clan name.

***Transfer occurs by adding a buyer to the clan as a DEPUTY OWNER (second in command) and then resigning from your clan (resign as OWNER).***

If the clan is under 90 days, the clan and its name is immediately transferred to the new owner. If the clan is over 90 days old, the resigning process takes a week and after that, the deputy owner (or highest rank / oldest member if there isn't a deputy owner) becomes the new owner.

The transfer process ensures that the name isn't sniped by anyone else and does not require any email or login info to perform, it is all done in game.

An MM Can be used for this step while the name is transferred to ensure payment is safe while process completes.

You can check availability for a name in game when you start the create a clan process (talk to the NPC at the clan corner in the GE, ask him about clans, and then request to create one).

Names are NOT secured until the clan is actually created with 4 other players (founders), though players will join you pretty easily if you pay them and most won't bother sniping, if you want, you can also use ALT accounts to join so that no-one knows the name you are creating.

***NOTE: If an account joins a clan as a founder (one of the 5 that created clan) or creates a clan at all, you must wait one day (resets when other RS things reset such as NMZ boxes, sand, runes, etc) before being able to create a new clan (owner with new name) or help create one (as a founder).***

If you rename the clan, you cannot check if the new name is actually available until you accept the change, so always check for new names while you are creating a clan (on an account that doesn't have to wait 24 hours).

*** ALWAYS LOOK FOR NEW NAMES ON AN ACCOUNT THAT DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE A CLAN / CLAN NAME, OR YOU RISK LOSING IT!!!***

If you change your clan name, there is a 7 day wait before you can change it again! If you release the clan name, there is no wait before taking it, so you can transfer it to a new name this way as well, though it may be sniped if someone creates the clan with that name before you.


Have ACCEPT AID ON to be able to be invited to a clan.

Getting members is relatively easy and does require some small capital upfront, but this should be easily manageable. World 1 (and 2 for members, but its easier on 1 since more players will accept 500k-2m to join a clan to secure a name). You can also use your own accounts as well.

To join or create a clan, accounts need to have played for at least 25 hours in game! (I am not sure members bypasses this requirement, I do not believe it does).

Again, please make a new thread this is a new and emerging market and Sythe should certainly support this and help create even more demand by creating a new listing asap.

i have a list of clan names I am looking to sell, will be for a good price and a great investment, have made a post for now on names section to get interest and inquiries

 

For now I'd just post them in the name sales section. We'll discuss this next time staff meet as a group, but I'm not sure there's enough activity to merit a whole section. If I'm wrong I'm all for it though.

 

Yes, I think there is alot of potential with clan names for the future so you might aswell start listing now
