I'd start something simple such as walking everyday when the sun is about to go down. Exercise, even as simple as walking, has helped wonders for people.

Thanks Yeezy I think I will start doing that. It sounds like it would be a good way to clear your mind.

A solid playlist & a walk - doesn't matter the distance - will probably work wonders.

Hi friend, I can totally understand, I also cope with games and the internet to forget my personal struggles.
Remember that you can always start playing again and have a fresh start. Or play another game and put your work into that! When I get too stressed about game problems (like when I've been banned or cheated on rip) I try to disconnect and wait until I'm ready to go back. Take a deep breath and remember there are many problems in life and this is nothing compared to that! If you put things into perspective trust me, it makes problems seem silly.

This could be the old geezer in me talking but I think you need another outlet for your energy that isn't gaming, period. Or watching TV. People, especially during Covid, have regressed toward consumption hobbies. Those are hobbies, or "pass-times", where you're experiencing or consuming someone else's work for the sake of entertainment. Don't get me wrong, these are necessary. We need to be able to switch off every now and then and games/TV/movies are great for that. What I think would be really valuable for you, though, is to find something you can throw yourself into that involves creating. Put something in to the world. Don't do it for the prospect of money or recognition because you'll be disappointed if you do. Find something that you enjoy doing just for the sake of doing it.

As some people said, try going for a walk daily, or for a run. I've never dealt with depression personally but I'm aware that it's really tough. If you ever need to talk to someone or anything, don't hesitate to hit me up through discord.
There's always something to look for, it's just a matter of finding what.

One of the best cures for the blues like this is a friend. Hit up a buddy and make a point to spend time together. Or make a new buddy and spend time with them. We're wired as social creatures and when you're in the slumps sometimes one of the only ways out is to bounce positivity off someone. Hope you get feeling better.

I find having some self quality time is good for these kind of things. (From friends experience)

I wouldnt know though, since i havent gone it thru myself and im sorry to hear you're going though this.

Things like just treating yourself and just listing to some relaxing music.
A simple thing as just taking a walk while u listen to music and just enjoy the nature or try. Playing gsmes and sythe is one of my ways to not focus about the real world. I feel like people hate me etc, and sythe is very kind and welcoming so i like that.
Try to find a new hobby, i was very sad after i had someone close to me that sadly isnt here after a car accident. But like i found boxing a good way. You learn to defend yourself and you will meet people that are very kind. Going to a boxing gym doesn't mean you have to punch others. Just going on the heavy bag etc is fine and you will get in excellent shape.

I hope you will get better! ❤️

@Unjustified1317 Hey man, first time i actually checked this section out.

First of all, glad you're doing better :).

Second of all, i can understand it's quite a bummer that you lost 2 accounts and i am sorry for your loss.

What i would advice you to do, is to go out there and do things. Since the outbreak of COVID i didn't see my friends a lot and i would just be doing fire capes all day, fucked up sleeping / eating pattern, not working out anymore etc. This made me feel a bit lonely and sad.

Advice that i can give you is to just go out there and do things. Don't use RuneScape as a coping mechanism, because it's not a stable one, as you probably figured out by now. Instead go out for a walk, a run or hit the gym. Go to a party, the beach or any place and meet new people, get in touch with old friends etc. I been going out since like 2 months again and i'm feeling a lot better.

Also if you have IRL problems, RuneScape isn't a good coping mechanism. I remember when i used to be younger i would play RS to fergot my problems irl, but i learned that tackling problems and working on them make you feel way better in the long run. If you have problems, don't run away for them; encounter them and fix them. Only that will make you feel better and it will also get you further in life. Walking away from a problem is something we've all done and it's okay (i did it too), but you can't be doing it your whole life, because that will only hold you back.

    My best tips:
    - Work out
    - Get in touch with friends
    - Take time off the PC to reflect on your life, do some thinking and let things sink in. You will get a better understanding of your problems and life in general, which will help you in resolving your current problems, but also future ones.

    Hope this helps!

Damn man, I know how you feel. When you lose things you find value in and it just feel like shit keeps coming to you, only time will heal. Reflect on whats happened but dont grieve on it. I honestly feel like talking and expressing your feelings is the best way to move on, so good on you for sharing. You should do things which make you feel good about yourself, tbh i dont feel like runescape will cut it. ive heard working out really helps because it builds up ur mentality and confidence.

I've also struggled with depression, and my coping mechanism has been work. I've thrown myself at my career with all I had, stayed late hours, rarely taking vacation, and studying in my freetime to earn certifications or learn new skills in order to be more valuable.

Much like Runescape, I put in hours and hours of work to level up my career, just as you'd level up your character. I know the two things are completely different in essence, it sounds like our regard for our mutually exclusive coping mechanisms are similar.

Therefore my most important piece of advice for you is DO NOT cheat on your coping mechanism.

If video games bring you happiness, and that happiness is real and doesn't wane and isn't coupled with unhealthy habits, then you should take care of your assets as carefully as I need to take care of my career. Paying for questing services, buying accounts, hiring a leveling service: these are ways not only to jeopardize your asset-- just asking for a ban or to get stolen-- but you're diminishing your own accomplishment of the work you're putting in.

In any case, that's not relevant as it's already happened, and your struggle now is the fallout. First of all, the suicide prevention hotline is 1-800-273-8255, and if you EVER feel like things are too much and you'd rather be anywhere else than here, if you EVER feel like giving up even if the act itself doesn't include harming yourself initially, please don't hesitate to reach out to me personally, or to call that hotline. I am open to talk you through any of the struggles you're going through.

Secondly, THINGS GET BETTER. I can attest to it, having been to the lowest of lows in my life and have come back. I'm going through an extreme low right now too because I've cultivated my career and earned a really respectable position with a highly reputable company... and then COVID-19 swooped in and took it all away. But I've been here, I've felt these feelings, and I'm a little more ready for them thankfully. But keep that in mind that things WILL get better, and there-in my advice applies that things get better. You aren't safe from hitting new lows or continuing to stumble later down the line. It's inevitable, it's life. But you'll be better equipped to handle new messes as they come along with more experience behind you. As you age on, problems will seem less terrible and much more manageable because you're better equipped to handle them. This doesn't mean you have to become jaded and apathetic. The attitude in which you address new problems is entirely your decision.

Third thing is to find another thing to distract you, and this has been iterated upon already in this thread so I won't subject you to repetition. Don't abandon runescape if you truly enjoyed it, but don't put all your emotional eggs in one basket starting today. Find another hobby in addition that you can fall back on.

And fourth, if you feel this depression is chemical, completely unavoidable, irrevocable and absolute, then I would encourage you to consult a doctor. It may be a diagnosable issue through no fault of your own, and medication CAN help.
