1.0 - Introduction
Wanted to know how to kill the beast, potentially strike millions and have an exciting time doing so? Well, after this you should be confident enough to attempt at demolishing the strongest monster in Runescape!

2.0 - Requirements
First off, to even think of killing this beast, I recommend the following:
80+ Defense - for overall tanking
80+ Attack - for melee
80+ Strength - for melee
85+ Range - for range [Ruby bolts (e) and Diamond bolts (e)]
80+ Mage - increase your defense against mage attacks
80+ Hitpoints - you can get KO'ed easily if you're not careful
These stat recommendations are important as your chance of surviving is much greater with higher defense and hitpoints.


You MUST have completed Spirit of Summer and Summer's End.

Max hit with magic - 65

Max hit with melee - 51
Agressive - Yes

Weaknesses:
Stab attacks - Zamorakian Spear (high stab attack bonus), Guthans Warspear and Dragon Halberd can work too.
Ranged attacks - Ruby Bolts (e), Diamond Bolts (e)
Magic attacks - Slayer Dart, Saradomin Strike, Ancient Magicks (Barrage, Blitz, etc)

Other information:
This monster is designed to be virtually impossible to solo, not to say that it can't be, but extremely expensive and risky. Thus, in order to achieve 2-5 kills per trip, it is wise to go in a group of 8-15 as it is much more effective and profitable. Of course the more people, the faster and potentially longer you will stay before having to restock on supplies. The beast heals itself when it eats a familiar - so do not bring one with you.


Apparently wearing Jennica's Ring increases the chance of getting a unique/rare drop.

5.0 - Getting there
Map of how to get to the Beast's lair:
The best and only way recommended is by using an enchanted Gaming Necklace to teleport to Bounty Hunter, from there you can set yourself up and then go straight to the lair. It's also very convenient as the lair isn't very far and you can keep restocking supplies quickly before re-entering especially when you're in a large group.

When you reach the lair, you continue through to the next part of the cave which you would have been in during the quest. This is your "meeting spot" where you meet up with your team before entering for battle.

Before entering:
You should make sure your group are all ready and that you have checked to see if the room is empty by using the "Peek-in" option when right-clicking on the entrance.

6.0 - Inventory and Equipment
Hybrid set-up:
This is the most efficient template.

> There is a Zamorakian spear in the inventory - it can be substituted for a Dragon Halberd or Dragon Spear.

Range set-up:
More expensive, but to some degrees safer and more efficient especially with Ruby Bolts (e) - requires less running/moving.

> Similar to the Hybrid set-up except no melee weapon and no super set.
> Crossbow can be replaced for a Bow (incl. Crystal) but would require high level arrows to be effective.
> Optional: Ranging potion.

Melee set-up (1):
Another set-up although less variable, requires a lot more running around to avoid attacks.

> Zamorakian Spear -> Dragon Halberd -> Dragon Spear.
> Amulet of Fury -> Amulet of Glory
> Optional: Robes that increase prayer bonus (i.e. Zamorak Robes)
> Since it is fairly easy to be killed and its constant high hitting capacity through armour bonus, its not advisable to take defensive gear unless you're a Hybrid or Ranger.

Melee set-up (2):
Proselyte Armour set - prayer lasts much longer.

> Amulet of Fury -> Amulet of Glory

Melee set-up (3):
Guthan's Armour set - self heals and high stab attack bonus.


Melee set-up (4):
Verac's Armour set - ignores defensive bonuses on enemy.



People may choose to bring a cannon along as it helps killing the Dark Core easily.

Note:
Only take items you are willing to lose, there is no guarantee that you will survive. You will only keep your best 3 or 4 items (with protect item prayer) on death.


Ring of Life is a MUST as it can save you from dying. I recommend taking a Phoenix Necklace (enchanted diamond necklace) - it restores your HP if it reaches below 20%, restoring 30% of your maximum HP. It has only 1 use but is extremely useful and activates before the Ring of Life if your HP reaches below 10%. It is also recommended that you only take food that heals 20+ HP (sharks and above) as the beast can hit you multiple times and deal insane amounts of damage in a short period of time.

7.0 - Procedure
Before entering:
Make sure your team mates are ready, pot up (brews, super sets), turn magic prayer (reduces magic damage) on then enter the room where the beast is and spread out with your team - it is extremely important.

Rangers should be spread at a distance surrounding the beast, while warriors should be circling the beast nearby.

During battle:
Its magic and ranged attacks can hit high and often and does spread so you and those in its range can be hit multiple times. When the beast targets you, it will start attacking you with both magic and range attacks. As soon as you realise you are its target, run to where it stands and start "dancing" with it so that it can't use its magic attacks. What I mean by dancing is that when the monster moves from where it currently stands to attack you, you keep moving with it so that it can't focus on you. Be wary though, as it can still do melee damage. Once it stops targeting you, go back into position and continue attacking it and repeat the process if you are targeted again.

Furthermore it will shoot out a Dark Core which drains your health and heals the Beast, it bounces from place to place, thus when you see it moving towards you or moves to where you are standing, run away from it. Even if you are a square next to it, it will deal damage to you and heal its master. Be alert at all times. It has 25 HP so is easily killable with a cannon or a high hit.

Q: Can you take familiars inside the lair?
A: Yes, BUT the beast will eat your familiar if it is close enough to it.

Q: If I die, can I get the items that I've dropped back?
A: No, because gravestones won't spawn when you die.

Q: If I set up my cannon and die, do I lose it too?
A: As long as you don't die with the cannon in your inventory, you can get it back.

Q: Will the Salve Amulet have any effect on the Beast?
A: No as it WAS in the spiritual world, but now is in the real world which makes it alive.
