Do you middleman account sales and if so, why?

This has been on my mind for a long while now. I have had a chat with @King about it few days ago but it's still on my mind. When I first started middlemanning trades I middlemanned RuneScape and Steam accounts but I was quickly done with it when one of the sellers recovered his account for like 275M 07GP. I feel somewhat responsible for this because I was part in the trade, even though I clearly wrote down in my ToS I'll be in no way relevant to the upcoming scam report: I'll still feel like that. And if you don't middleman properly and the seller who already knows he'll be recovering the account afterwards will safely use you again because of your poor trading practises which is at the same time equal to a smooth trade. You're mainly there to ensure the gold or however the account was paid for will actually be paid - whether the seller gives his info and recovers the account later on or if he doesn't give the info at all basically is the same thing: scamming. I might have helped them get through the trade safely, but eventually I'll still be relevant to the upcoming report. I had multiple instances where one user claims his account was recovered and I had to advice them again how to report a scammer etc. That'll never change for sure, people will remain stupid and get scammed - therefore scammers will always exist.

What I do miss is the interference with people though, some people were actually kind and pleased you didn't keep the money and ran, because that's another possibility a buyer has to be careful for. I still get asked quite a bunch of times to middleman account trades by those who are too blind to read my mood message on Skype and too retarded to read the middleman threads at all to see who is middlemanning what and who isn't.

TL;DR: Why do you middleman account sales? And do you suggest me middlemanning them again?

 

Havent middlemanned for a short while, but the hassle that comes with account trades made me decide to charge for it. Charging 2M '07 each account middlemanning.

I only accept the trade when the other side of the trade is not recoverable (for example RSGP for an account), then during the trade I check everything in regards to the account. I ask to check the account and then check the 'messages' on the official Runescape site to see if there is a message saying "We noticed different IP's play on the account and want to warn you that sharing/trading an account is against the rules" or something like that. In my experience, when that message is there thats a red flag as thats the message that you get when you recover an account back after selling it.

I also check the log-in username/e-mail to see if it is a match with any previous scams.
Doing the 2 above things (checking the messages and checking the username/e-mail) makes the trade a lot safer. Have reported and stopped quite a few trades because I noticed either the message in the inbox or a link with a scam.

 

@Wortel before MMing any account trades be sure to link the buyer these 2 threads

Also, explain to them about 90% of accounts get recovered if not more. Recommend they only buy accounts from users of sythe who are considered very trusted -> $200-$500 donors, Have 200-500 vouches, and have been on sythe for years, never buy a acccount from someone new.

After all that if buyer still chooses to buy the account that's on him.

 

I middleman account sales, and I am fully aware of the risks (for the buyer) in purchasing accounts. Even if you are given all of the account info and complete a successful recovery test the account can still be recovered at any random time (even 10 years later if they wanted. So what I do is I always warn the buyer of this and they still want to go forward with the trade then I am fine with it as they are fully aware of the risks in doing so.

 

Did - never again, too much hastle and the amount of scams is unreal

 

what's the point to middleman account sales when the seller can scam after the trade? If you don't trust the person with your money not buying an account from him should be common sense

 

middlemanning trades I feel is out of the authority of the middleman. When a seller knows they are going to recover the account, theirs really nothing you can do except stall out the scam. Regardless if the scammer will one take money and never give account, or wait till money is sent and recover account. The whole account selling business, should be left to people trustworthy on this site to sell, or a clear warning present that majority of the time account may be recovered if the person your buying from has no reputation.

 

Trusted middlemans are always welcomed on these deals, because are a lot of cheaters on internet at these days.
