Gray Chinchompas.. Worth it?

Okay, so I just got 75 range on my new(ish) gmaul pure.
I took him for a test drive to chin at skeletons. I've made three trips thus far, and averaged about 300k/hr per trip. So in three trips I gained about 900k xp and went from 75-81 range.
Now here's my question.
I threw 2.5k(ish) chins each trip which totals to around 13m. That's a lot of money. Red chins are stupid high at the moment.. would it be worth it to use gray chins instead which are less than half the price?
Please no opinions if you haven't actually tried it.

EDIT: Or maybe just grey chin to like 90, then red chin once I get there? I averaged like 150xp/chin due to splashes. If I grey'd to 90.. I would make much more xp/toss at 90, right?

Grey chins are more efficient gp/xp-wise than both red and black chins, but this comes with the trade-off of lower xp/hr rates. It really comes down to how much money you have to work with and how much of a rush you are to get the levels. If you have a limited amount to spend, then it would probably be ideal to use grey chins up until the highest level you're willing to get with them.

However, another thing to consider should be opportunity costs. Say that you use grey chins all the way to 99, which saves you 25m but also takes 25 hours longer when compared to red chins (rough estimates). Also say that you have an alt that you can kill Zulrah on for 1.5m/hr. In those 25 hours, you could have made 37.5m, so by using grey chins, you haven't saved 25m, you've actually lost 12.5m. Just some things to think about or do some calculations on.

 

That's pretty much what I'd say. I stake and always buy red chins because it is more worth it for me to spend more money to get the account done faster... if you can make a lot more money per hour than the amount of time you save it is well worth it.

 

I'd just go with the red chins after level 80. It's not worth the extra time with greys.

 

I used grey chins on one of my accounts to get from 75-90 range, it was still fast enough for me and cost considerably less than using red/black chins. it probably is still more effcient in the long run to use red or blacks to 99.
