Farming, why do fruit trees take 24+ hours?

ok guys I try to fit 2 tree runs in everyday, 1 of which is a fruit tree run too.
One when I get up, and 1 before bed (both stay a consistant-ish time each day)
Sometimes the fruit trees + calquat haven't fully grown despite having just over 24 hours to grow which is frustrating considering papaya's take 16 hours, and I do obviously pay the farmer for them.

I was just wondering what I could do to limit the chance of this happening? Would putting super compost down help?

    thanks

Yep, AFAIK using super-compost shortens the duration it takes to fully grow a tree. I'm also fairly certain that the each fruit tree takes a different amount of time to grow (within a range) although don't quote me on this, it was a long time ago that I got 99 farming.

I believe the trees can become diseased even if the farmer looks after them. The farmer essentially cures it immediately, and the current growth cycle on that tree is then repeated, if this happens multiple times you may have a problem.

If your tree gets diseased, the farmer will cure it right before the growth cycle ends, which unfortunately lengthens the time it takes to mature. There is 2 things you can do if you're on during the day.

    • Remote farming from livid farm to check every once in awhile, which would shorten the time it takes for it to mature if you cure it mid cycle.

    • Check them yourself if you don't have access to them

Edit: As RsProd says, super compost reduces the time for them to grow

So RS wiki for example says magic tree's take 8 hours to grow, and papaya's 16. If I use super comp it will reduce that time?
if so I might fit in 3 tree runs a day :D

Sorry for the misleading answer, I should've been more precise in my answer to your question. The supercompost doesn't have a direct effect on the time it takes to grow a tree. It reduces the chance of getting diseased, which'll decrease the time it'll take to grow because you'll essentially have a higher chance of not being diseased.

Less chance of disease = More likely not having to have wait another growth cycle = Over the course of going for 99, will save you quite a bit of time.

As far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't logging in/out have some kind of an affect on the cycle?

Farming, why do fruit trees take 24+ hours?

I'm working on 99 farming as well, 3 yew tree runs a day plus 1 palm tree run =p I protect the palm trees but let the yew trees just grow or die.

It does take forever for them to grow, never 24+ hours though.

Any other runs that are good xp that I should be doing?

No other runs come to mind that are worth doing, but if you're rushing for the 99 or want to get exp on the side, you can also do livid farm(20-30k/h) and maxing your reown with a Cabbage Facepunch fc. Warbands is also an option.

All the best to your 99 farming goal =)

Calquat every day and spirit tree (if you have seeds from MTK) every two days.

Herbs for money, inc HH to keep making juju farm.

I don't personally bother with allotments but there's exp to be had there as well.

If you really want exp I'd suggest warbands when you have a spare 20 mins and penguins weekly, with trolls monthly - it all helps.

    Protip here from a 99 farmer --

I was having problems with my trees not growing anywhere near as fast as they were supposed to. This was because while I was training farming at the time, I was doing something else that required a LOT of world hopping.

The way a farming 'Tick' works is that it resets every time you log in. So if you log in twice in that time frame, your tree won't make any progress towards growth.

what do u mean it resets every time u log in....I thought trees grow regardless of whether u log it and what you do has no effect?

What I thought made it take a long time was that it gets diseased multiple times, therefore it restarts that stage

Also: at 90 farm would u do yews with payment and without? I feel like they die alot without, idk

Game ticks are like a seperate measure of time for the game.
    http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/RuneScape_clock

For farming saplings grow every 500 ticks so if you're constantly logging in and out your tick count keeps getting restarted each time because your character needs to be in sync with every other character and object. It works when logged out, yes. Just the process of hopping/logging upsets it a bit.

If you have the money, payment is the preferred option. 99 Farming doesn't cost too much. I think I did it for less than 200M from 70 using the best methods with payment.

I suggest doing warbands in addition to trees. Not only does it increase your potential exp/day by a ridiculous amount, it's also free.
