    F2p worlds

I don't play runescape anymore. But during the 5 years when i played the game, i really loved the 05, 06, 07 years. The community was that of a well-balanced mix of elite, good, average and noobie players which kept things going. Although now there is a return of 2007 scape, i honestly feel that it is still a far cry from the game that i used to play because of the lack of F2p worlds. F2p worlds are the shit. They are the base of the game. That being said, i am very happy that jagex has decided to bring back 2007 times and feel that we are one huge step closer to being the best MMORPG ever.

Without F2p worlds, many aspects that were once part of the game are now missing. It seems that many of you are unaffected by this, but i beg to differ. I feel that the community and game will never be complete without f2p worlds. (yes, even with f2p worlds it'll never be as good as the time back in 07, but it will be closer to the good ol' days)

Here's why, in summary, the reasons i feel that f2p worlds are significant to the game, to sort of complete it...

#1 - Raw materials and simple tasks

The game needs a constant flow of new players to bring raw materials such as yew logs, iron ore, etc. to the game. With only p2p worlds, there will be a lack of new players and raw materials as time goes by. Players will reach advanced levels and no one will be there to farm cow hides or iron ore. Without new players (noobs) entering the game, there will be a lack of players resourcing for raw materials.

Currently, things are still going smooth as the 07 game is still new. But once more months go by, problems will start to arise.

    #2 - Advantages for p2p

Now that everyone has to pay to play, we all have access to the same levels of benefits. This is unhealthy, though, in my opinion. P2p should have a privilege and be able to take advantage of the f2p players. e.g. treasure trail items, resource gathering and training spots, etc.

I miss the times where i would hop into f2p worlds with my member items and have many noobies throwing endless streams of questions and compliments at me.

These were the times where p2p actually meant something. It was a great privilege to be a member and sort of made you feel special in a sense. Especially if you were young and finally managed to convince your parents to get you membership. Does anyone remember that feeling? When you actually appreciate membership and when it meant something.

    #3 - F2p pking and the experience

Anyone who has pked in f2p worlds as a noobie would definitely support this. F2p pking, is the shit. I remember exploring the wildy as a kid. No kid you, but i was shaking. I could actually feel the adrenaline and the experience was authentic. Never have i experienced similar sensations while playing other games.

F2p pking is of course not really for the existing members, but for the future generations. The beauty of f2p pking cannot be described by words. Here are a couple of memories of f2p pking...

-when you actually smithed your own weapons/armour, crafted your own runes and cooked your own food to pk. When your hard-earned equipment meant so much to you, you actually felt very upset if you died
-You drop trade/transfer money to your lv.3 accs and start maging them noobs (and you actually LOOTED those iron plate bodies)
-Remember them mage pures, range pures or strength pures!? That simplicity...
-Pking a black plate body would put a wide smile across your face, woot!
-you would form huge teams and hunt down others, going deeper into the wilderness and fight other teams
-but sometimes your teams would backstab you/each other, ahh the thrill!
-it was great when you actually found someone you could trust and became close friends
-luring noobs deeper then killing them
-trying to kill some def pures wearing full rune at lv.18 hoping they would disconnect, but to no avail :(

To sum it up, back then when we were noobies, pking was actually heart pumping and gave you adrenaline rushes. The ups and downs of building your own weaponry and losing it were the greatest memories. You learned by trail and error and forum help was sort of a plus.

Pking wasn't about just going in there with your standard gear and when you died you didn't really care.

The game back then was more of a relaxed pace game, where younger kids who hadn't had access to membership could play the game. Getting 60 woodcutting gave you a euphoric feeling and you would feel a sense of pride when you looked at the amount of logs you collected. It wasn't about rushing to lv.99, the motive of the game was to have fun, to enjoy the moment.

I do understand the current player base would probably take no joy in the things i've mentioned as we all have advanced. But what i hope is that other people around the world, new players, can enjoy the game as much as i used to did when i first started. I hope that future kids can actually feel how i felt when i managed to get into the mining guild.

Free to play runescape is the purest form of the game. When you looked into the world map and your young mind imagined what it would be like to explore around the entire area. When you wondered what was down in the dungeons or what was in the ice area of the wilderness... When the simple things actually mattered and brought so much joy. Noobs are the foundation of every game. Noobs are what keep games going.

I could go on and on forever, because my passion for the game is overwhelming. Runescape is truly one of the most unique games i have ever played and i believe will remain so. This game is so special and the potential it had, and still has is limitless.

In saying all this, i have no selfish motive. All i hope for is that the game will maximize its potential and not let it go to waste. After all, Runescape is probably the best MMORPG ever. I understand that every game is financially motivated, but to crumble such a masterpiece because of monetary gain is an utter disappointment.

I hope that you all share my view, that f2p worlds need to and must be brought back in order for runescape to shine and return to what it actually used to be. Right now, the infrastructure is in place, the servers are running, but the final, and most important piece is missing - f2p worlds and noobies.

    i love runescape. :)

    F2p worlds

I read through this and agree with what you said but back in the days there weren't as many bots. Now days people simply download bots and have them gain the levels for them. I remember when I first started I was only training attack, those were good times. Also when someone claimed they were a member I used to ask them to go in world 2 and when they did I was like 'omg lucky him'.

Thanks for posting this thread and sharing your experiences. :)

Thanks for this, I agree so much... :/ I hope they look back on what they've done and decide to let f2p'ers play too, so many 10.000s of people would return. :p And also, it would survive much much much longer.. less level 40+ players unlike now... everyone is pretty much 60-80. :/

I'd love to be able to hop on a random 3 digit acc of mine and just play old rs not having to play only my main that is member so agreeeeed with everything
