Competition: Vb4 skin for Sythe.org [Prizes]

I might have to take a whack at it, but due to time constraints I probably won't have the opportunity.

 

So I grabbed an old broken and abandoned style (it was free I didn't steal it), I updated most of the CSS, and resolved most of the issues with it (there are still a few but its 7:30 am and I work tomorrow at 2 PM)

heres what it looks like

 

Looks good, but it lacks a wow factor due to its simplicity.
Is the blue theme a must have in this new skin?

This project would take MINIMUM multiple hours to come off with a basic design but to have an enhanced and re-envisioned theme would take days, I believe the prize should be something way more then just a "Competition Rank" as the better the prize, the more of an incentive for actual coders within Sythe to take their time and make a vb4 skin.

 

Working on this project would more-so be a testament of one's gratitude for the site.

Also, it's similar to why people become a chef or paint as a hobby. They don't perform these tasks for the money, but instead for their love/passion of the job/hobby. I feel that same feeling applies here, and those who care enough or have the time to dedicate to this project will be grateful of the reward being presented. Whether they win or not shouldn't affect them either, as their work will be critiqued, and they will only grow stronger in the GFX and coding fields, respectively.

 

Well, to be fair, countries pay their gold medalists excessive amounts for winning, and the gold metal inside the medal is worth more than a competition winner rank, but then again, this isn't the Olympics. I just wish it would have been presented in a more of a "let's work on the theme together" project rather than a "everyone do their own thing, and the best one wins (maybe)" project.

 

I was working off the same theme a little bit except I changed it because of some css problems that I couldn't get to match sythe. I'm working from scratch now, and duplicating sythe classic theme. After that I will start adding in the gradients and backgrounds. I'll upload a picture when I get remotely close to a nice sythe related theme. I'm trying not to stray away from sythes blue colors, it really sets this site away from others with a nice design that isn't like everyone else.

 

Good luck to all who enter, hopefully we can get a great new theme. Unfortunately I really like NextGen Lite, so we'll see if it's a good change

 

Almost done with my style, after I'm done with it I'll attempt to make something similar-ish to the Classic style we currently have.

 

I'm looking for a coding partner! Preferably someone with loads of experience and knows how to code straight from a .PSD PM me if you're interested.

 

I'm looking for a coding partner also. If you want me and you could team up on the graphics aspect of it. I'm a very good ideas guy but not necessarily at delivery yet.

Looks like a good start. What are your plans graphically? Leave it how it is or change the colours around?

Yes, the entire database will be transferred over.

 

Zuzel, they will stay It's only the vb version that's getting updated to a newer version
