JAG - Jagex Account Guardian live!

Heard it from a guy who bought an account a week ago and got it locked that way.

Even if it's true for all account buyers, it won't kill sales in my opinion. Not like selling accounts got any less safe. JAG is just optional. As long as it hasn't been activated on the account you're selling it's like it doesn't even exist.

could an account buyer add his own info to JAG and screw over a seller that went first?

 

Activated it on an account that I purchased, as mentioned it probably won't completely stop it being scammed, but it cost me fuck all time to try nonetheless.

E: it doesn't lock your account when you activate it, FYI. And if I try logging into RS from my hacked Android, I will have to verify the e-mail to get back in just like if I wanted to change my password.

I don't see this as full proof for account sales still.

 

I plan to test this to it's limits. I'm going to get on a spoof mac address + vpn, JAG one of my accounts, then recover it.

I don't really think this'll impact account trades at all to be honest. Just looks like an extra security measure to cut back all the phishers that are out there at the moment. Smart move by Jagex though.

Yes, you can see whether JAG has been activated or not on the login screen.

 

Just as a side note for obvious reasons, if you put JAG on an account and you sell it the buyer can't change the questions, there's probably a loophole somewhere along the line like e-mailing Jagex but at the base of it the questions can't be changed, so buyers cannot put JAG on the account with their own questions, they would have to use the sellers questions.

 

I would like to also point out that before you can reactivate JAG again you will need to enter the security questions. This is a way to tell if JAG has been activated on the account before.


The one thing I do find weird is that what is someone else gets your questions? There must be a way to change them if that were to happen.


My word of advice is to be careful and be sure to set them with answers that are not known publicly. I have heard of people uses others social media sites to get some of someones recoveries. Looking at the questions it would be easy to get the three using a persons Facebook. Make sure they are hard to guess.

 

Few things can happen, account gets locked, JAG questions deleted on unlock. Jagex tells you you're fucking retarded for walking into a virus, sort your own shit out. Or you can send them an e-mail proving ownership, mac addresses etc and see what they do.

 

You can still remove your recovery questions if you email them. I think the email was [email protected]

Its a great update tbh. Too many innocent players are losing their accounts so hopefully this will fix it.

 

I don't really think that this will effect the account selling in a bad way. This is only making it safer for the buyer, so if you're planning on selling your account now or later, don't set JAG.

 

Or don't set questions with personal information.
