    ConvinBot - Released

    ConvinBot has been released.

    Who are you?
ConvinBot is developed by a Finnish software company Convin Oy. I posted a development thread about this project a few weeks ago.

What? It's not free? Will it ever be?
Yes, it is not free and yes in the near future we will be enabling advertisement based usage. So you will be able to use it for free in the future.

    Where can I find this?
You can check our site at www.convinbot.net
And hey, feel free to participate through the forums!

    How can I trust this?
You can find our companys info in the footer of the site, feel free to search for us in the Finnish company registry ( someone who is Finnish can maybe verify? )

Why should I, as a developer, use my time in this yet again new client?
We are fair to developers & fair to users, also developers get their access for free.(Apply on the website) Also we value our developers, they are the hearth of every botting community

On the frontpage of the website you can find longer explanations and thoughts.

    FAQ

What's the purpose of making this?
There's a demand for a bot that has regular updates & respects users & developers.

How does it differ from anything else?
Developed professionally with a development plan for 6 months ahead.

What are the advantages of using this over the other idiot-savy java bots?
Most likely faster updates, bug fixes and feature additions compared to other bots.

A brand new bot with nothing to show for instantly charging fees from the start; why?
I'd rather start with strict limitations and loosen them up later down the road than introducing more limitations when people have accustomed to using the client, nobody likes that.

Who maintains the bot and how much experience do they have in the RS macro scene?
Convin Oy maintains the bot. Experience ranges from 0years in runescape scene to 8 years

Why did they choose to release their bot now?
Is it coincidence that this was released a matter of days after RSBot's source was posted and spread around?

I've been posting development stuff since a month ago. Also it is a opengl bot.

Why roll it out when we're weeks away from a nuke that will surely slaughter this 'bot'?
I wouldn't count on that one. As stated on our website we have a few solid plans for different scenarios that could go down with the nuke, if we are right with any of those it will make little to no effect at all. As those scenarios have already been taken care of on the coding side of things.

If you have any questions regarding this release you can do it here or on our forums, I'll be checking both regularly.

Have a nice day & thank you for taking the time to read this.

Also a bit of info, you can post your details of this bot to YoHoJo on this thread:

As I believe advertising is still against the rules.

When will it be officially working and what premium scripts will you be releasing, not to mention how soon will those scripts be out?

I'm interested if you have runecrafting scripts available, or FDK & dung perhaps.

OpenGL, much more reliable than these inject & reflection bots. You'll be the fourth OGL bot for RS.

You need to understand what OGL is and how it works in RS, then you'll have a good idea what the limitations are.

It is working at the moment. Starting tomorrow I will start releasing basic scripts and working the way up to those more advanced ones.

Anyone who is willing to do those at this point will get our full support regarding API needs etc.

Answering your question about when will the scripts be out: All the scripts you mentioned will probably be out before end of the year.

We don't really want to rush things, we want to first establish a good level of stability and so on.

I'd say the hardest part of an opengl bot is detecting animation reliably.

How is this relevant to anything I said..? I know the limitations of OGL.. And fourth? There's at least 7; the reason I asked WHEN those scripts will be developed is because there's no point switching until they are. At this time, OGL & directx can be used with simba for scripts, which along with the amount of script options and free access gives it a bit of a lead. Not to mention the other similar platforms, which are all ahead currently. Once they get reliable script writers creating scripts for their site, then I'd consider paying a monthly fee.

Yeah, I'm wondering what scripts they do offer as it's not listed anywhere on their site.

That's for sure. What I've been doing is first off have the script record the player's static model ID (this will be different depending on many factors). This ID is used throughout the script to compare to our player's new model ID; should the number have changed then we're either animating or we've changed our look (equipment, clothes, ect...).

I was hoping that there was a algorithm for determining the type of animation based on our model ID, something like "if (BaseID + 1337) = 7331 then Emote = PLAYER_FISHING". You get the idea... But after testing static models to models (while animating) with factors facts like different clothes & equipment, there was no pattern, thus proving that theory false. :( Tis a shame, that would make things exact animation detection a breeze, no?

Evidently not. Anyone who has even the slightest bit of basic knowledge of OGL will tell you what can be read in an OGL bot is graphics only. So when you say something like any other leecher would say ("Dungeon script??? FDK???") you're proving that you, infact, don't. Along the lines of a dungeoneering script; I wonder how you would know what room you're in? What was used to identify specific rooms and keep track of them in, let's say, iDungeon? How would you handle the bosses in a dungeon? How would your bot know if they're about to do a special attack or not? Their model remains the same, their emote changes; so how would you determine that?

An FDK. The first thing I would ask is how would you know where your player is located? Graphically, how can you determine your player's location accurate to an exact tile?

Trilez I assume you have a tile and location system with Tribot, no? Also if I'm not mistaken, yours works similar with SPS; but even then this system uses an amount of color, ya? It's a smart system if you ask me, I've nothing against it, I'm just trying to explain to the common botters, like Aimless here, that it's not as simple as they think. ;)

The id algorithm was the first thing in my mind a few months ago, now i've been steadily developing another way to detect animation. You don't really have to be able to detect all the animations by name, id etc. with just the bots core. I think a more reliable way is to provide different methods of filtering stuff you don't need.

With opengl everything, as a client developer anyway, is a "little" bit harder than with injection or reflection, it's like the power of injection & stability and durability of color, though it needs more work to achieve the things.

Just as I figured... If you can't even release "basic" bots on time I really doubt if you will have any appreciable bots up anytime soon.

You should make some videos to show how it works and runs, how to use it, set it up.

This is borderline advertising. Unless you provide a video of use, some screenshots and a direct download link you cannot post a thread like this.
