Is homosexuality a choice?

Anything that is abnormal could be classified as a disease or a disorder because, let me guess, it's abnormal. That DOESN'T mean that is definitively a disease. Please, before sharing your bigoted views try to use some logic and provide sources for your hypothesis.

 

I'm personally against homosexuality, but since there are different views on it. I think it should be a private choice and any homosexual activity should be out of public due to different views on it.

 

I do not believe it is a choice. Did you chose to be Heterosexual? Just because someone is attracted to the same sex does not make them weird either. I have been attracted to the opposite sex since I started noticing people were different, as I am sure homosexuals have been attracted to the same sex since they could remember.

Also if someone was sexually abused as a child they could chose to be homosexual or heterosexual from that experience.

 

I think it's a mix of how you're born and your growing up. While I don't think parents can actually make a child gay, I do believe that it can cause antsy person to suppress the feelings if say they came from a strong Christian family.

 

You have circumvented entirely the debate and the questions that arise. The primary function of this thread is to ascertain whether one's homosexual inclinations stem from personal choice or, contrarily, whether they are homosexual through no choice of their own. All you have said in regard to this is ''I think it should be a private choice''. This is a normative statement and does not deal with what is actually the case. So the question remains unanswered: is homosexuality a choice?

 

The way I see it is both, some people are born with it while others have life experiences which lead to their status.

 

The human by itself can do whatever he wants to do. There is only one rule - to keep the Bible morality within all of your behaviors and thoughts. Even in paganism countries, where the people does not know Bible at all, they a ususally follow this morality. And my own opinion is that homosexuality is just a paganism and people like that only at the beginning of a way of the rethinking this. I think there may pass a life or two in order to rethinking this.

 

I agree with the OP in that its not a choice, i regularly try to put myself in other peoples shoes and i cannot wrap my head around not liking girls.. leading me to strongly believe its NOT a choice at all. While i dont like what i would call "fags" (the uber flamboyant, limp wristed stereotypes) i dont mind homosexuals, but i think who your attracted too and who you wanna fuck shouldnt be apparent by the way you dress and act. Frankly homosexuals mostly do straight men a favor by taking a lot of uber good looking guys most girls find attractive out of the game and alot of fugly chicks outta there too.

 

Im pretty sure it's not a choice. 100% of the homosexuals I know were born with their preferences.

You have some sense in you, but not the guy you replied to. If being gay is a disease, then let's all just call in gay to work. "Nope, nope. Can't come in today. Still gay."

 

Although I see you're argument, in many workplaces I see that as a legitimate excuse not to go to work. There have been countless cases of discrimination towards homosexuals and with most of society being against them, being "gay" to work would most definitely have an impact on the workplace for both parties.

I think the same as many above posts, I believe it has a lot to do with how you're brought up, not being around many males has a massive input into how you live, walk etc. It's definitely not a choice but there are various factors to it.

I don't believe it's a choice because in my opinion, no sane person would choose to be antagonized and shunned from society. Though I could imagine hipster teenagers feigning homosexuality just to fit in some sort of group and deviate from the norm.

From an evolutionary standpoint however, I do believe homosexuality is a mental defect because it contradicts with the whole survival of the fittest concept. In biology, fitness is defined as the ability to produce surviving offspring and if you're homosexual, reproduction goes out the window.

 

This is almost like saying you choose to be left or right handed, it just is that way. Sure people can be forced to use the other hand as it was forced on left handed people who seen as having the devil inside them to use their right hand but it doesn't feel right/natural...

 

As previously mentioned, I think there can be two sides to it really: having it hard-wired and thus not a choice, as well as people choosing to be homosexual, even if subconsciously.

I think it's truly subjective and it really does depend on each individual.

I believe it can be both. I hang around a few fags and one of them, is a stone cold gay guy. the thot of dick makes him wild. but hes gotten drunk and takin women home. Another gay friend of mine is "bi". As the "gay" people I know all clearly feel like fucking the opposite sex on occasion it is a choice for them. They just "perfer" how the gay sex feels i suppose.. I also know a few men that thought they were gay and were only attracted to men until they fucked a gurl, and ever since they claim to have no attraction to other men. So I believe it can be a choice or it can be how your born.
