Should Marijuana be Legal?

It should stay illegal. Drugs are drugs. I think it's pretty sad that people have to get high to have fun, then they argue that it's harmless when people go out in public while high and vandalize stuff.

When people act stupid when intoxicated with weed its not the weeds fault. Its the persons fault. Do you agree alcohol should be illegal also? People die from drunk driving every year.

Cannabis is not harmful. What is harmful is when people add chemicals to Cannabis when it is being grown to add that extra effect to it.

Forms of Cannabis such as K2 are hardly harmful to the body, however they do have a much greater effect on you. In some cases K2 can make you hallucinate. (usually first time users if anyone)

Cannabis itself may cause "short term/long term memory loss" however if we are to argue about the mental effects it has on you, lets also talk about Drinking, Smoking, T.V., and Computer Use. Each of these have had research done against them that states how they are harmful to the short term/long term memory affects of humans.

While marijuana does hold a mental addiction in some cases, unlike alcohol or smoking, the continuation of smoking cannabis will not harm you like said drugs.

In my personal oppinion I beliefe Cannabis should be allowed to buy/sell/grow/smoke as long as it remains chemical free. In reality it will never be possible to stop someone from "enhancing" there drugs, however it would be much easier to just walk to the local smoke shop and buy a gram then ride around town through scetchy neighborhoods to recieve some dro.

Marijuana should be legal for anyone to purchase. It has beneficiaries, and is not a gateway or addicting drug. The United States allows people to buy products such as alcohol and cigarettes which have much more negative side effects than marijuana ever will.

Honestly, any first drug is a gateway drug. It doesn't matter if it's weed or anything else - once you experience that feeling to not be yourself, to be high/drunk/in a different mindset, you might be curious about other things out there. Weed is not a gateway drug. Drugs are gateway drugs.

I live in Holland, and as many will know, weed/marijuana is legal here.
I think legalizing the drug reduces the amount of crime heavily.

Since the 'Weed pass' was introduced here in Holland, the crime has raisen.
The weed pass is basically a pass you need to buy weed in a coffeeshop, you have to register yourself for such a pass, and only people from Holland can get one.
Before, people from Germany & Belgium also came to Holland to buy their weed here, but since they can't buy their weed in the shop safely anymore they go and buy it on the street.
Ofcourse dealers take advantage of this, because they gain more profit, so more people decide to start dealing.

You kinda contradicted yourself there. The key word is might. You've said it yourself many times before in this thread. Marijuana affects everyone differently, and chances are not everyone who tries it (especially for the first time) is going to move on to heavier things. If any drug was a gateway drug, then would we expect everyone who drank coffee for the first time and liked it to smoke pot later on?

The whole taxation argument regarding marijuana is complete bull.

As shown in California, marijuana becomes the highest cash crop in a state very quickly. With corn being used for ethanol, fields being used for marijuana, food prices will increase dramatically. In essence, we are alleviating the debt burden of the government by forcing EVERYBODY to pay more for food, even if they don't smoke marijuana.

In essence, it's a dangerous proposal that will hurt people everywhere. In addition, it has been linked to alzheimer's and other brain issues. Finally, legalizing marijuana is a bad idea because of the accessibility for children. With more marijuana circulating, at cheap prices, more kids will use marijuana, which is a gateway drug, and there will be a rise in usage of harder drugs, and obviously more people using marijuana is not a favourable outcome.

Marijuana is not a gateway drug if you think it is your completely wrong. Only reason it is thought to be a gateway drug is people have to go to DRUG DEALERS to buy marijuana then their dealer says "hey wanna try some meth" or whatever it may be. If people could buy it at a store everywhere then that problem would be eliminated. Crop prices will not go up and I doubt that statement is true considering most of Americas corn is grown ells where. That may have been the case in cali where they have the weather to be able to grow it correctly outside but most growers have indoor operations which will not effect space for other crops. Marijuana does not cause Alzheimer's that has been proven wrong. Take a look at all the prescription drugs out there for things like cancer that do have side effect like the possibility of Alzheimer's down the road ect I could go on and on. Your argument is invalid, come again.

Sorry, yeah. Consider "is" to be "can be". And coffee is different - it's more of a stimulant drug like Adderall - you don't really notice it's effects like other drugs such as weed.
