I'm saving up to get one of these, and can't decide on which one.

From what I've heard,

*PS3's have much less of a chance of breaking down.
*Xbox Live is 100x better than PS3 Online (Or whatever it's called)
*PS3 has better graphics and colour when settings are at max.
*360 is cheaper.

Also I'd like to add that I'm used to the Playstation controls because I have had a PS2 for a while now. (Haven't played it in a long time) but I wouldn't mind getting used to Xbox controls!

Your thoughts on which is better?

I'd pick the Xbox 360 if I were you.

-It has a larger online community compared to PS3
-Better game selecton, better exclusives
-Has two models to choose from: the Arcade system at $200 and Elite at $300.(Arcade has 256mb, Elite has 120gb)
-Xbox Live Arcade has more content than the Playstation Store.

That's just my opinion. Sorry if its a little bias, but yeah the real choice is up to you.

Also if you want to play movies in HD on 360 you have to buy a 70-100$ dollar add on, but the PS3 comes with blu ray.

Also if you want to play online with wireless internet you need to buy a 100$ adaptor for 360 but ps3 comes with one built in.

Also PS3 online is free and has better features than the xbox in my opinion (for example, Home)

PS3 would be the better choice tbh.

Playstation 3

Microsoft's Xbox 360 became very popular among end users in USA since its launch on November 22. But it seems that PlayStation 3, Sony's next generation gaming console is even more popular among US gamers, researchers say.

NPD Group conducted a study that revealed brand loyalty is an important factor in the purchase intent. This means that a higher percentage of those interested in purchasing each next generation system own the current generation system from the same manufacturer. Sony's PS2 is now still popular in USA, with sales of over 42 million consoles, and it is more likely that these users, or at least their majority, buy Sony's PS3 instead of the new Xbox.

The report also shows that the majority of current generation system owners plan on continuing to play with the system they currently own and 58 percent will continue purchasing games for the system they already have.

Many of the current generation system owners said that they are not willing to pay more for a newer system, and that are going to wait for them to go on sale or other price drops.

"When it comes to next-generation home video game console systems, Sony's PlayStation 3 has the highest awareness, familiarity and purchase intent among total respondents, gamers and non-gamers, followed by Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Revolution," says NPD's most recent report, Next Generation Console Study.

I'm leaning toward the 360 a little more, DrDeath and Beat me DoWn do make the PS3 seem better than I thought, but alot of my real life friends are on the 360 and my mum agreed to pay for Xbox Live Gold membership if I get a 360. (Boo yah!)

Xbox is better hands down. PS3 has crappy online. Who cares if its little kids? Atleast your not waiting hours to play someone. Xbox 360 is more supported and trusted by game companies. Overall, who cares if your movies are in Blu-Ray. I'd rather go with a 360.

Xbox 360, online is a lot better, exclusive games eg Halo series, it might cost a bit for live but its worth it.

Yeah by the way, the cost of live doesn't bother me as someone else is going to pay for it for me.

xbox 360, waaayyy better i've tried both but to me xbox 360 is superior, i got it because all my friends had it, and if your in this position i reccomend you to get it, with games like gears of war halo(s) and simply the better online you'll have much more fun on the xbox.

Xbox 360 if you want to have a fun online experience. Xbox live has a lot of content from game demos to movie downloads.

For those of you PS3 fanboys complaining about having to pay for Xbox Live, let me tell you this, IT IS WORTH IT, and it's freaking cheap like 30 bucks for 6 months?

Oh and guess what, when your PS3 controller's batteries stop working, which is common, you have to buy a new controller, goodbye $45.00
I believe the new Xbox 360's don't have the Red Ring of Death problem. Correct me if I'm wrong.

On the other hand, the PS3 is good for Bluray movies..... -.- And it has free internet which is called PSN and it has no where as near content as Xbox Live.

WTF are you on about the controller on the ps3 has a integrated battery chagrer in it, unlike the 360 where you either use loads and loads of batteries or spend £15 on a charger.Price let me clear this up.

the controller charger costs £15 so now its 195
plus 40 xbox liv gold, so now its £235 plus a wireless adapter which is £60 so now its £295 for an elite which has everything a ps3 has.
