I can help with anything from basic sites (3-4 page HTML, no scripting) to fully functional database driven sites with sales processing.

I generally charge on a per job basis and that is quoted before work begins, I find hourly rates to be unfair to the buyer.

I do not use cookie cutter carts, these are generally open source and while generally secure they are more prone to attacks for vulnerabilities as they are found, with custom work for each site it is harder for a hacker find a problem to exploit.

If you feel like you have a firm grasp on the basics, start making your site.

Start off with a div based layout, with no fancy divs or anything, just a three-column site (you can find tutorials for those all over [i.e. http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Web-S...t-with-CSS/]);
Keep going with that, and just start adding in. Eventually you will get comfortable enough to photoshop your own layout, cut it up, and construct the site from that.
