Laissez-Faire : What are your viewpoints?

During the Industrial Revolution, Thomas Malthus, an economist, predicted that the population would outpace the food supply. The only checks on population growth, Malthus said, were nature's natural methods of war, disease, and famine. As long as population kept increasing, he said, the poor would suffer. He encouraged families to have fewer children and discouraged charitable handouts and vaccinations.


What are your views on this?

I personally agree with this. When there are people starving and suffering from natural disasters; yes, it is morally wrong to let them die. However, this is nature. Nature should play it's role and the government nor human population should interfere with nature. Interference with the natural acts of life could set off something major in the long run. I believe it is best to just let things happen.

You might say, "Well, if you were in trouble, wouldn't you want the help?"
I think everyone would want the help, however, it isn't best to receive the help. As cold as it may sound, sufferers shall die if they cannot solve their own problems. Vaccinations and "freebies" shouldn't be given to underclass citizens just because they cannot support themselves; whether it be their fault or not.

As Sythe said, Thomas Malthus is wrong. He assumed food growth would be linear. End of story...

On the matter of overpopulation theories. Take a closer look at a rival theory (one that actually is being vindicated as of late): Esther Boserup.

 

The government has been working on decreasing the population for years now...Think about it...
