EDIT - so that i don't get an infraction, i'll post something useful.
I don't think that we'll start drama, *we if i'm accepted, they if i'm not* but in any case, the admins have the ultimate decisions, along with the real staff. Enough with the drama and let's doo it!

 

I think everyone could do with remembering this. This idea has my full support, as I think it could be very beneficial, but it seems so far that things have got off on the wrong foot, so to speak. It's my opinion that there should be a lot of communication between the staff and any members of the USC. If there are constant arguments, it is not going to be helping anyone. Staff members should not be so dismissive of this idea, and should be prepared to give it a chance, but USC members (and indeed Sythe members in general) would do well to remember that this is an unofficial group, and the staff are the ones with the actual power.

I don't want to start preaching and getting all sanctimonious, but in my opinion this is a great idea and could actually go somewhere. It can only do so, however, if people try to work together.

If I may be so bold, I'd like to suggest that some staff members try to give this a chance instead of rushing to find fault. I'd also say that everyone else on the USC side of things should think about what the USC is doing - have you not stated:

At the risk of sounding like somebody's mother, if you are unable to try and establish a "healthy relationship" with staff members now, you aren't really setting a good example to any other Sythe members looking at this.

Is it okay to ask people to vote for you via MSN? This question is aimed at either Deacon or SuF.

The Sythe staff are allowing this committee to run as a test, and have allowed it to happen with supervision.

 

Get to the bottom of it all you want. I did nothing wrong and shouldn't be punished.

 

You will not be punished. However, you may lose votes if those who voted for you only voted for you and no one else.

It's not really my decision to make, but let's stop complaining about everything and the the USC leaders and Staff decide what'll happen.

 

Not exactly fair. All of us could have easily farmed votes over MSN and had our numbers boosted substantially.

It is called the User Staff Committee because it will consist of both users and staff. However, SuF has told me that he wanted to get a small user team in place to decide what staff members they thought would be good on/applicable to the team. However, I would ask SuF or Deacon directly, as they are the team leaders and may have changed their opinions.

 

The thoughts that Deacon and I shared were that eventually the staff could work with the U.S.C. to get things done effectively. Not requesting permission or involving staff members at all in the starting of this group was supposed to show the users and staff alike that we will be operating without staff guidance at all and that they will not have any control over any of our actions. However, the staff responded in a horribly negative way.

The staff, not the U.S.C. started the hostilities. It has been made very clear by many of the staff that they think that the U.S.C. is a joke, that it will fail, and that they are better than us. If the staff member don't want to be involved with us, as peers, not superiors, then the U.S.C. won't let them be involved. Its as simple as that.

(I'm in school and being annoyed so I can't have a complete response.)

 

If you end up distancing yourself from the staff wont that just cause drama and a negative effect on what your trying to achieve(whatever that may be)
