Default i think i may have some kind of virus...

I think I have a virus on my computer, because I opened up my browser today and all my cache and history was gone, making me log into all of my accounts again. I was thinking... if i was a hacker, I would delete the cache and put a keylogger on the computer so I can get all thier passwords. After thinking about this, I went to go download MalwareBytes, when I tryed, it says that the file is 0 bytes and when I click it, it has an error message saying that it is not a valid win 32 program. So im thinking that this is a keylogger/virus, if so, is there anything I can do to help get rid of it?

This could be a trojan that doesn't allow you to run .exe files

You could try starting up in safe mode, simply keep tapping f8 from the moment that the computer is starting up, till you get in the boot menu.
Then from the boot menu select 'safe mode with networking'.

Start up, try to download malwarebytes again etc, it will probably work.
Do full scan, remove everything and start up in normal mode again, and re-scan.

Other thing you can try is after downloading malwarebytes, change the name of malwarebytes.exe to iexplore.exe, making the virus think you're opening internet, most viruses allow you to open internet.

Safe mode but no network. Get Malwarebytes in another PC and use a USB Disk.

Don't let it actually touch you.

Doesn't matter, if it still starts up it will still block you from running .exe files

Then the network part doesn't matter, assuming he won't login to forums and stuff whilst he still has the virus lol.

Then it could spread to the usb and he uses usb on another computer again.. etc .. etc.

He can just use safe mode with network and he'll be fine as long as he's not logging into forums, accounts and whatnot =]

But the bypass of renaming malwarebytes to iexplore.exe normally always works so he probably won't need it.

I think it may be something in the setting of the web browser because you can change the setting to every time you close it the history & cache are deleted or removed. So check the setting out or re-install the web browser to see if that works. If that doesn't work then in maybe a virus.
