Unless you want to pay a fortune for a "1-2 week" labor job which in reality takes one hour and is stored for two weeks then shipped to you I suggest going to one of the hundreds of cheap computer hardware stores and building from scratch. If you are unable to build it yourself out of the parts (it really is easy; attach the motherboard to the case and attach everything to the motherboard) you will be able to find a freelance computer builder for less than $100 guaranteed.

I saved approx. $3,000 building my own computer from local and imported parts.

If you don't want to build your own PC (which can save you money and teach you experience) then I would try DinoPC, however I think they might be UK exclusive but I'm probably wrong. They do fairly good PCs but sometimes they can overprice, however they don't overprice on the scale of Alienware.

Do not waste you time or your money on "Custom" PCs from a manufacturer. Go truly custom by building your own or get someone who has experience to build it for you. Stay away from ANYTHING from Alienware, they are nothing but a ripoff. Their parts are no better than any other manufacturer, so you're really just paying a massive premium for a flashy case.... most of which aren't even high build quality. Usually their cases are mostly plastic.

I think what everyone else here has missed that if the OP is buying a custom pc, he knows nothing about building a pc. And someone who knows nothing about building a pc could waste thousands of dollars trying, especially if they buy the wrong power supply, ram, processor, motherboard, or gfx card. Which is almost all of the components of the pc itself. Also, installing an operating system on a new pc is a trick for inexperienced technicians, especially when drivers are involved.

Ibuypower is a good site with decently good prices. If you go the "build your own" route, send me a pm and I will assemble a list of parts and prices for you from newegg.com (assuming you're american). YOU must supply the technician, and make sure they are good at what they do. No craigslist hires.

Don't buy market PCs they use the cheapest and crappiest hardware and are overpriced. Compile one yourself. i5 is pretty cheap atm and u should get a nvidia 540 for under 200$. that's a start.

Lol rusrs? There's like 10 people from this forum who would be more than willing to pick out the best parts at his specific budget. Picking the components is not the problem. Installing everything is a breeze as well. There are guides ALL over the internet, as well as one in the guide section by me, which I believe to be fairly well written and explanatory. Installing an OS is as simple as putting the install disc in, saying 'yes' to all the prompts, and watching a loading bar. Installing drivers, for the average user, is not too different either... though I would recommend snagging the latest drivers from the web personally.

The ONLY way someone could "waste thousands of dollars" is if they are a complete and utter retard, no offense. There's also things called warranties. Most products have 'em.

Listen to him, no sense in buying a custom computer off line , will cost you loads, DIY , or find someone who can do it locally.
