Ok so whenever someone posts a thread saying they want to buy gold via paypal, inevitably there will be 2-4 people who post with "If you can use moneybookers/playerauctions/western union, I'll sell to you".

Can we agree that everyone knows what playerauctions is and that if they had the ability to use it, they would? IMO it's just spammy and unnecessary to constantly tell people that they can use playerauctions. There are plenty of legitimate reasons why people don't use playerauctions, i.e. bad customer support, takes forever to verify personal info, monthly spending limits, etc.

Simply, I suggest that such posts be considered spam and infractable. Every time someone posts "I can sell via playerauctions", the OP turns them down.

Edit: To clarify, when the buyer says they want to pay via a specific method, it should be considered spam for sellers to state "I will sell to you via [alternate method clearly not specified by the buyer]"

Well.. In a way I support.
BUT It's often the newcomers who only buy with paypal, so a lot of people are simply just suggesting new things to them for a safer trade.
Some of the newcomers don't even know some of the others trading methods and it can be useful for them hear about them and learn about them when someone asks them of they can use a certain method.

I'll start off by saying that I have been guilty of posting similar context, but usually add several other payment methods in the post as well.

However on the same note, I have walked a plethora of different users through the PlayerAuctions process, or helped them purchase through a different payment method; i.e. WU, MoneyPak, BT, Mail, Or MoneyGram, so I actually have had minor success when posting in such buying topics.

Not sure where I stand on this, if the common consensus is to cease posting such content, then I'll stop doing so and send offers via PM.

I agree. It is spam. Typically when people make those threads their simply looking to chargeback, it's not like you posting is going to change their minds.

I have been guilty too, but mostly to those newcomers who we are pretty sure, will chargeback. Otherwise I won't post and just add in msn.

I think it's a legitimate thing to post unless the OP specifically says he won't use PA. After all, PA takes Paypal.

I feel like, since PA supports PayPal, posts like those shouldn't be considered spam. Unless the OP states that PA is not a viable option, people should be able to post and help the original poster create a PA account / sell RSGP (or whatever it is) to the guy.

I support this, I believe it is spam because people don't want to go through a long sign up process to be able to buy gold. I bought gold before through paypal and from personal experience if someone came into my thread and said you can buy it from me for [Insert other payment option here] then I would report as spam. If I take the time to say 'Buying Gold through Paypal' I mean paypal, not PA or not WU, paypal.

PA does not always support paypal, not to mention that it's balls-difficult to do a bulk purchase via PA's paypal system, as they require you to upload an obnoxious amount of personal information that many people can't be bothered with. The point is that if people say paypal, they mean direct paypal

Even if this case justifies making "I'll sell via PA" infraction-worthy, I don't see issuing infractions really helping at all. It's just focusing our attention on issues that are (a) relatively pointless, and (b) not going to be helped by what we are doing.

Agreed with KerokeroCola. Personally, I encounter people constantly who haven't use PA, and I have to walk them through signup.

I just assume a newcomer doesn't know PA is. And as others have mentioned, since PA is about the only method that allows a safe trade between the buyer and seller via Paypal, it doesn't hurt to ask. I've had a few very happy buyers thank me for having me help them through the PA signup process, and eventual successful purchase.

I will stop and just ask via PM/MSN, but Sythe really needs a market template then. Buyers need to state specifically what they are offering, and if that is the only form of payment they are able to offer. What really annoys me are the threads that post, "via PP gifted and noted" as if the buyer is implying that is a non-reversible form of payment. Those need to go.

I would support this thread if Paypal was safe, but it isn't. In fact, I wish Paypal wouldn't even be allowed for newcomers, forcing them to go through safe methods of payment until they reach say 5-10 vouches. Paypal was convenient... over 5 years ago. I understand it is up to us to practice safe trading, but let's face it... this is a MMO where the majority of us aren't adults.

There are many newer users who are unaware of playerauctions, and on many occasions when I've suggested it they've been more than willing to give it a go.

Also, as said above, playerauctions does take paypal.

I disagree.It's up to everyone's own personal preferences. Generally, newcomers aren't even aware of player auctions or other methods of payment besides paypal. Posting and offering to sell them gold via different methods - teaches them valuable methods of trading (other than paypal) that could be used in the future. I'm sure many of the legitimate newcomers seeking to buy gold would be fine learning about other methods of payment. And if a newcomer does not wish to seek any other opposite method of payment besides paypal, then so be it. It is up to the seller's discretion on whether or not they would want to risk selling gold through paypal anyways.
