Known Lurer
Hey guys, I come to you today with a suggestion about luring.
Many of us know that there are a select amount of users on Sythe that use a certain type of luring known as Forum-Luring. This involves using the forums, in this case Sythe, to lure unsuspecting targets.
Now, Sythe formally does not condone luring, but neither does it punish those that would steal Billions from users of sythe (Knowingly cheating someone out of their money with the promise of a different result)
I understand why it is not against the rules, but I think the system is flawed.
- Therefore, I suggest that Sythe implement a Known Lurers List or rank.
- A list of ALL known Forum lurers, which could be stickied, would allow for easy fast access to a database of users with the intention to lure our members.
- A rank of Known Lurer would allow for SIMPLE tracking of such people (I suggest this be put in place as a User rank, like the temporary and permanently banned ones)I also think that such people should be prevented from creating multiple accounts with the intention of having a know-lurer's rank removed.
Note, this is only my first Idea for this suggestion, Im looking to improve this - PLEASE make suggestions.
Also, please keep the "Luring - Against the rules?" Debate off this. I will report you for spam if you do.

Re: Known Lurer
I couldn't agree more, although to gather this information would need substantial evidence opposed against the people luring.
This would take some time to implement but this could potentially filter out lurers praying on sythe members.
Support.

Re: Known Lurer
Your asking a lot in my opinion. Its simple to lure, have done so myself (not via the forum however) and I believe if you get scammed/lured, there is only yourself to blame.
I like the thinking behind what your trying to achieve....however, I believe a simple announcement could be made to remind both existing and new users of the risks.
A guide is also a good idea, something as simple as a guide can instantly show people ways of making them safer during a trade and less likely to fall for such scam.
*I apologise if there is a guide already made - credit to whoever made one

Re: Known Lurer
I suspect that most known malicious *forum* lurers would have to be ip banned by now, rendering a compilation of these criminals useless. However, thorough guides addressing the matter, as well as a step-by-step apprehension article could increase the communities awareness of the matter and abolish any negligence from here on out.
When you say forum luring, i reckon you are referring to any such scam where one will exploit the forums to scam another? Or is there an actual method of luring somebody somehow via the forums im unaware of?

Re: Known Lurer
Hard evidence is need to confirm they are in fact lurers.
It would take a while for the list to be made, I think a sticky warning people of lurers would be more appropriate.

Re: Known Lurer
You're talking about way much time, to fix a simple problem. Luring is allowed to be discussed on sythe. However, you are not allowed to lure people on the forums, that will get you a permanent ban icon, so no need to create a "Known Lurer". Luring on the forums (the way i see it) is called phishing, which is a perm ban. If you are talking about "Known Lurer's" in runescape, like they take people off the forums and lure them in rs, im still pretty sure if you report this is still bannable (could be wrong). However, i strongly do not support, based on time spent and the fact that this, in my eyes, would not have a significant impact on these forums.

Re: Known Lurer
JC - Luring forum members (in runescape) is currently NOT bannable, which is why I suggest this.
It could be as simple as someone reporting getting lured along with significant proof. Then that person is just added to the list/given the lurer rank

Obviously people do get banned for luring other sythe members. (Idk if he got unbanned couldnt tell hes profile still says banned but idk.)
I still believe this is a waste, because it justs adds on the scamming reports, which are slow now, and will just create more complications then benefits for this site. After all, you might have 1 lure a week get reported, is that really worth a user rank?

Re: Known Lurer
This has just recently happened, and prior cases were dealt with differently.
I was on IRC when this was debated, I imagine his dispute will change the way sythe views luring

Re: Known Lurer
I'm not for luring in any way, I just think there should be a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about luring. If you lure on your own, you really don't have anything to worry about, and shouldn't. However, once you start luring using sythe as a median, there should be rules against this, but i still dont think this rank is needed, i say just ban them.

Re: Known Lurer
I would honestly see that as an honor, and a challenge to get the rank. Also, when I try to think of it from a new user's point of view I would think that it means they are reputable and would be MORE likely to fall for a "lure with me" type scenario.

Re: Known Lurer
Stupid idea, feel like I'd be added to the list, unless it has a sick logo to go with it.
Also I feel like its also the victim's fault for being so stupid.
Besides, they could have easily anti-lured me.

Re: Known Lurer
This wouldn't work out well at all. It would be the victim's fault as mentioned above^ and really, there is not much point in going to the effort of making the list. No support.
