Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I just wanted to say that I spend a lot of time in the gold buying section and I see these things happen everyday. Spamming and people getting their post count up undeservingly is the main thing that really bothers me.
First off, I would like to state that a sticky should be made that if someone chooses to use PayPal as a method. They should also state whether they are willing to use PlayerAuctions (PA) or not. This would cut down on like 30 members just spamming "Can you use PlayerAuctions or not?" before the OP finally replies which always tends to be a no because it is usually a scammer or whatnot. I would say to even go as far to include a reason why you can't use PlayerAuctions but it may be for personal reasons so I will let that go.
Secondly, I also see so many people (mainly Simple Merchant and Hold alt F4) just spam people's buying thread with their prices which sometimes are not even close to what people are asking for or something along the lines of "if you can use WU, PM me if interested" when the buyer clearly stated that they can only use PayPal. I think this will cut a lot of members just upping their post count from spamming the thread regardless what method the OP originally stated.
Finally, the issue of OMM. A lot of times; I see people just spamming the thread of "you go first or OMM". I find it should be clear who should be paying for OMM and not allowing members to just say "No, you first or OMM". Again, pointless chat between members; because then it leads to a flame war where people are like "Rofl, did you read the first post?" and then it just spirals down from there. I mean this is stuff I see everyday and it gets redundant and it really bothers me that the line is very grey on this matter.
Anyways, I would love to hear other members thoughts. I know there is a lot of things that I said that will spark controversy but it's all a part of moving towards change.
These are just my two cents and I would like to see these 3 changes implemented and thoughts from mods especially.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I agree with a few of the points made here. While I was still global I would handle a lot of this spam, and before I gained the trusted status I have now, I also encountered a few of these.
I definitely agree with you when you say that OP should clarify who will be paying for the MM/OMM, and mods should also be actively looking for and infracting/deleting posts from users who ask for other payment methods than what the OP states they will accept.
I'm not as much of a market junkie as I was several months ago, but I still do see a lot of this going on, and it bugs me.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
We can force a format that users must post in if we want. More of a template with much needed info.

I don't really see the need to force a format, but there definitely needs to be some stricter guidelines set.
OP must state Price, Payment Method, and if needed, who will pay for MM/OMM.
Any posters will NOT ask for alternate payment methods on the thread. This can easily be asked via PM.

This, it's just spam.
I pretty much agree, though the PA/PP thing is a little unnecessary.
When you're in the market, remember that a large percentage of them are scammers anyway.

I'm glad you guys agree that there should be some stricter terms for the gold buying/selling market.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
i absolutely agree, i hate see'ing people spamming like, you go first even tho ive got no vouches and you've got 1000,
and maybe people that bulk sell gold should have certain requirements on the thread e.g OMM expenses
also if you're selling 50m+ then you should have a certain post count or a certain number of vouches?
and yeh we should defo cut down on the spam in this section cause alot of people spam here to make it seem like there trusted when they are just here to scam

vouches can easily be faked... People that do sell gold have certain requirements on their thread.
I think rather than this, a picture should be required if you're paying via pp/selling gp of your gold stock. I've come many a time waster during my short duration of time on sythe.
Though this should only be required, if you are making a thread, not if you're posting on say a gold shops thread.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I would hope for a mod to look at this as this rule as it should be enforced/implemented to prevent all the unnecessary spam that I see so often.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I think putting a suggested format up could help people. However, we definitely shouldn't force a format for gold buying threads, makes it way too confusing, especially for the newer members. All posts that you think are spam you should report and a mod will deal with it.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I like the idea, when I search for buyers in that section I want to know what payment method is being used.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
Why do some sellers force users to post in their thread with a fixed format including their email? It doesn't make sense to me.
Supporting the -asking for other payment methods = spam.
Also supporting that posts that have no utility at all and would rather be pmed like. "Omm or you first" or "interested" or "added on msn" be considered spam.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
I'd like to see some clear rules on what should be consider spam, like non-sense/relation posting. I mean, I hate it....

Support. The spam is getting out of control. This would help control it in every way.

Re: Suggestions for Gold Buying Section
People don't read stickies. People don't follow templates. I don't see a good way to resolve this other than by cramming the section with useless infractions.
Also, I'm very against outlawing things like "Added you because I'm interested" and that sort of thing. I don't want to outlaw something that is genuinely used for actual feedback.

If sythe is going to follow that indifference principle over spam, then we should stop careing alltogether about the postcount bullshit, which we should.
You should not be penalizing users for making posts which have no other intent than gaining post count, you should be penalizing users that have no intent of gaining post count.
If that makes sense.
Also people read sticky titles, probably not the whole stickies.

What you base trust off of is a personal preference; some look at Post Count/Join Date, others look at Vouches, and some judge by ranks, to each their own. Just because you don't attribute Post Count to trustworthiness doesn't mean someone else does.

Making posts which have no other intent then gaining post count is considered spam. If one feels so inclined to spam, then take it to the Spam Forum, which was created for the sole reason of spamming.

What Kero stated is adequately portrayed in the Report A Scammer section, I'd go as far to say nearly a third of the reports people make don't follow the templates/guidelines explicitly posted in the stickies.
