Basically at my team every player is assigned an offensive position and defensive position. I am 6'3-6'4 and weigh 83kg (that's 183 pounds) although I'm bulking up a bit.
So like, my coach assigned me as Wide Receiver for offense which I completely expected and I'm loving it. I played for the last 2 months training as wide receiver and just today all the offensive players were assigned defensive roles and vice versa. I expected to be picked as a linebacker since one of my coaches made multiple remarks on my good tackles and captain-like qualities and the actual workout I'm doing now is for a linebacker role - the coach gave it to me himself and have gained around 5kg (11 pounds) in muscle in the last 3 weeks since I started. And yet, despite all of this, I've been assigned as D Line. My best friend there who's QB and also team captain found it funny and had a talk with the coach about changing my position but he wouldn't budge.
I honestly have no idea why I've been picked as D Line, during our drills today I'm pretty sure I was the only one there with an IQ over 100. I was the only one who considering it was my first ever time doing DL drills did them pretty much perfectly and got all the calls correct.
Please offer your help as to why I was picked? I can't see why I was on any level.
tl;dr i'm a skinny 6'4 white guy who normally plays receiver and my coach is making me play d line for defense
