Post Diseases / Viruses

Background information: As we advance to stage 5 of the "epidemiological transition", there are a lot of issues brought up. One of the major influences in population change and death rates is the re-emergence of quarentined diseases. They supposedly mutate using natural selection and change the DNA structure so they become more lethal and able to infect people once again. There are also a load of world-wide diseases that have yet to be cured. For example, let's also not forget the pandemic that is plaguing the world-- Cancer, Ebola, HIV, etc (example of some of the un-curable diseases today that have a high deah rate).

What are your thoughts on the topic? What do you think would happen if some of these deadly virus or disease were to mutate and diffuse to your residential area? Is there ever going to be a cure?

Well that's true but how many people do you think will survive and develop immunities to multiple diseases?

It's a god-send to survive something like Ebola but how can someone survive that and mutiple waves of variations of the influenza and etc?

You're already pushing your luck...

It's unlikely that two very lethal diseases would share the same human niche. There's a scientific term for this phenomena, but it's passing my mind right now.

Basically, it's unlikely for any natural disease to threaten the nature of human survival.

Why do you say that? Where is your source?

Well, the good thing about Ebola that it kills too fast to spread properly

For the first http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competi...sion_principle

For the second, it's because the human genome itself is very large. However fast microbes adapt, so are we. The real question is whether our medicine can sustain the same living standards through technological advances. Only time can answer that.

Enough will survive, those that don't. Tough luck for them...but think positive. Like its a form of population control and that the Earth knows we are way overpopulated so it just launches some of our old nemesis's.

Your typing right now, if there was to be a disease to wipe out the human race, why wait until we have such advanced technology to do it and not when we were Cro Magnons?

Well if you are referring to as why we are not experimenting for vaccines or cures of future diseases, that's really taking a stab at the dark right?

You could be creating more trouble with the experimentation as the odds of the disease to re-emerge actually does, in the manner that is experimented.

I really don't have an idea of what you're trying to say in your second statement...

The second part was answering your response to how we know no disease can threaten the whole population.

If there was one to wipe us out it would have done it a long time ago.

EDIT: Were probably experimenting with vaccines and what not, but not everyone will survive thats a fact. And those that dont, I see as a form of population control or weeding out the weak.

I think diseases are essential for population control.

E: Did you know that if the Earth's population keeps growing as it is now, in a little over 2000 years, the mass of all of the people will equal that of the Earth's?

Do you know what a logarithmic (s) growth curve looks like? If you did, you'd know that your assertion is foolish.

Well, in my eyes you don't have to worry about these diseases you play it safe. Almost 90% of Deadly Diseases/Viruses are spread from Bodily Fluids. and what's one way to Transmit Bodily Fluids to another Person?

Sex.

In fact, yes. I am a middle school drop out, kid. And I think you meant to say exponential growth.

And did I say it WOULD keep growing this way? I'm saying what the results would be if it did. I didn't say it wasn't possible either.

Unlike you, I think about what I am saying. So no, I didn't mean to say exponential.

Either you are adding irrelevant, or innaccurate information. I don't care which it is.

Double negatives without purpose just sound retarded.
