Default More / New taxes in America

Is our economy at the end of its survival?

Are we in such a bad condition that there is no other way to keep our economy wealthy and survive another generation that we need to abolish the current tax system and create a new one, and or increase the tax amount?

Supposedly we're broke and its time for a new tax, according to federal chairmen.

Quote:
Given the country's fiscal hole, former Fed chair Paul Volcker and many tax experts say there may be a need for a value-added tax.
Although president Obama has been steadfast in his pledge that he won't raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 has he told others that hes not quite sure how he will be able to keep this pledge?

Is there anyway to get our economy back on a wealthy track without increasing the annoying prices of taxes?

Was this a random reply before researching the topic? Your statement obviously comes from not experiencing the deductions of taxes. Those of us who actually do pay, are old enough / have jobs know;

Other countries pay less / no taxes then we do, prices lowered with less of a knowledge for technology and product.

47/100% of Americans don't pay for taxes. Why raise the price of taxes for those who don't even pay and make those who do pay taxes and make minimum compared to those bringing $250,000+ suffer for poor mistakes and failing economy?

Why not make those who don't pay, pay?

Well that's a bit of a mind fuck. Nothing like kicking the economy when it's already down.

A VAT would make literally everything more expensive. No thanks.

It sickened me this summer when I looked at my pay check and saw the amount the government stole from me.

Although its the same percentage every time, whenever you get that deduction out of your paycheck it seems like it just sucks more and more out every time.

Well. Possibly when these new taxes come in, it will balance everything out.
I mean, in the past, the taxes were higher, and our economy was fine.
Then taxes were reduced, then we went into a recession again.
I live in Ontario, Canada.
Few years back, taxes were 15%. Ridiculous, then it was reduced to 13%.
As of July, 2010, they're bumping the taxes back to 15%.
Maybe this will end the recession, who knows.
Possibly even better our economy.
Just some thoughts.

All we have to do is stop paying taxes... all at once. What are they going to do, put 100 million people in jail? The only reason the government is so powerful is because people believe in the system. There's more of us than there is of them, we just have to stop fearing them and they will become powerless.

It's not about fear (for most people). I believe in the system, and pay my taxes.

And, assuming you're American like the majority here, I pay more than you.

In most of Europe, taxes are high as 50%.
It's just that the money management in the US is awful.
