It takes light approximately 5 years to travel to alpha centauri (the closest star to the sun). Relativity holds that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. When accounting for the momentum of an object as massive as a space ship, it would take an astronomical amount of energy to take a space ship to travel to another place inhabited by intelligent life in a plausible time frame traveling with a high velocity.
You are forgetting we do NOT know everything about space. We have only brushed the surface, and we can only access 20% of our brain. If there is other life, and they can access full amounts of there life-source or mind. I believe that they can and rewrite, or distort the speed of life. Almost destroy it, and use it as they like. Perhaps billions of years ago they traveled here, it could have taken them x amounts of millennium. But, they made it they could place whatever type of technology they have here. Then have it as a instant transport here, like teleporting. Do you believe it? Anything is possible, but is it correct.

LOl, the vastness of the universe to me proves that other intelligent life exists.

Why don't you think that others exist?

Well, space may be vast but it is mostly barren. The chances of having a similar system like Earth's are extremely small.

But then again, saying that space is vast also increases our chance of saying that life do exist somewhere in that space.
