How to mod on Borderlands [PC][Basic]
[font="Tahoma"]Welcome to my basic guide for modding Borderlands. This includes:
-Weapons
-Items
-Quests
-Levels/skills
With this guide, you can easily import mods created by other users or stock weapons for playing in the game in any mode, including online play. Creating your own weapons is advanced, and requires extreme knowledge of the game and modding software.
We will base everything on two tools. There are the necessary components. There are other ways to do this, but these are the best in my personal opinion.

____________
Step 1:
- Download both tools above. You'll need both of these.
- Make sure that you have Borderlands ready to play. Steam isn't required to my knowledge. You'll need a GameSpy account to log online to borderlands, but offline works fine.
- If you're nervous about corrupting/losing/spoiling your game file, you can double save it in another location, and/or "Save As."
____________
Step 2:
- Open WillowTree# on your computer. Click the WT button on the top left of the program and select "Open" where you'll navigate to the following location for your .sav (save) file.
 - Visit the BMR (Borderlands Modding Resource) where you will chose your changes.
____________
For the next two steps, I'll split into step 3a and 3b. Step 3a will be the editing of what's already in the game. This is from WillowTree itself, and is things like quests, level, skills, etc. Step 3b will consist of the addition of weapons, items, etc. These are the mods.
____________
Step 3a:
- Navigate to WillowTree#. From here, you can chose what you're editing based on these tabs:

*Notice, only General Info, Ammo Pools, Skills and Quests are used in this portion of the tutorial. - Skills - You'll need to click on the skills tab. From there, you'll see all of the proficiencies that your character has unlocked and equipped. Basically, these can be edited. In the basic tutorial, you will not add, import, or export the skills. Use the arrow keys below to adjust your levels. There isn't a table online that I'm aware of, so just play around with the numbers until you find the level you want, unless you'd like to max your proficiency out. In that case, these numbers work fine:

If you'd like to change your individual character abilities, they go from 1-5, but you must have spent one skill point there in-game before they'll show up here. From there, you can come back and change the level. - Quests - Click the quests tab. From here, you can edit your progress/completion of quests. This is only useful to change the description of the quests to shock your friends, or reset/finish quests depending on where you are in the game. Messing around with these are sketchy and can disrupt your storyline. Be careful.
- Ammo Pools - These aren't useful to change, except for the SDU upgrade level. Change them all to the maximum of 6 and you'll never have to bother again.
 - General Information - This is where the shit goes down. You can edit anything that you see here and completely change your character in-game. The options are obvious, but almost everything here gives you an advantage when changed. Maximum inventory and bank space is 2,147,000,000. Banks can only be accessed from the coliseum DLC, but are very useful. Check the picture below for what I've edited to as a good idea.

*Note* set your skill points! Those can be spent when you log in on new skills you haven't/hadn't unlocked!
____________
Step 3b:
- [
*]Navigate to WillowTree#. From here, you can chose what you're editing based on these tabs:

*Notice, only Weapons and Items are used in this portion of the tutorial. - If you're nervous about corrupting/losing/spoiling your game file, you can double save it in another location, and/or "Save As."
- You'll need to navigate to [Click here for] The BMR's Hall of fame. This is where the best weapons and items are. The tabs will look like this:

From there, you can select the exact type of weapon that you'd like. If it's a weapon, you'll head to the weapons tab, if it's an item, you'll go to the items tab for shields, health packs, etc. - Next, copy all of the code into your clipboard and create a new weapon/item in WillowTree#:
 - From here, head over to the editing area and paste from clipboard.

You'll then want to edit the level if necessary (if you aren't high enough, or it's not 69 and you are,) and from there you should save changes on that same toolbar.
Be sure to save in WillowTree# via the WillowTree# button, and when you open up Borderlands, your changes will be made.
Have fun modding! Post here with any grammatical errors that you locate, or any questions that you have.

Re: How to mod on Borderlands [PC][Basic]
Abit old, Borderlands 2 is coming out "Soon". I wish I had found this earlier. Maybe I'll start playing Borderlands again. It would be so cheap to have a level 1 with an almost infinite shield boost lol.

Re: How to mod on Borderlands [PC][Basic]
btw, how do you play borderlands without inserting the disc? It is getting annoying, and I don't want to use a crack because I might get banned when i play co-op.
